The Economist Educational Foundation is an incredible place to work. Genuinely. The company has managed to hire a talented bunch of people who are a joy to work with. We are a small team, but each and every person is amazing at their job and we are all in awe of each other's skills. And it's not just the team, the managerial style and org of the Foundation is great. I feel that there is confidence in my expertise and experience and I am listened to and valued. There is a lot of flexibility around working - if we need to attend an appointments or change our working hours for any reason, there is complete trust that we will get our work done and that we will communicate with the team. And finally, it's fun. The people are fun, there are games and challenges and chats and tea and biscuits.

I've worked at the Foundation for over 5 years now as it has grown from a team of 2 to 9. This year has been the hardest for many organisations with the immense upheaval and uncertainty casued by covid-19. This time of turbulance has really made it clear how fantastic a workplace the EEF is. There is a strong friendly, open and motivated culture within the team which meant that moving to working from home, zoom calls and meetings did not get in the way of innovative thinking and social inclusion. We have a morning check-in every day, regular chats and had a great online Xmas party (featuring a bake-off contest). This effort to unite the team and maintain interactions has reduced feelings of isolation and potential apathy.

Our charity mission has also deepened this year. It's become even more clear that tackling misinformation and supporting young people to understand the world around them is essential. We were able to respond very quickly during lock-down to support young people at home and the structure of the team means that all ideas were welcomed and explored.

The EEF also has strong governance and management. This was clear when many other charities had to furlough staff and halt programmes this year. The EEF works very hard to maintain financial stability to ensure stability for staff, which it turn leads to confident workers. Being able to forge ahead with innovative ideas, flexible programmes and business as usual this year has been fantastic.

Working at The Economist Educational Foundation is fantastic: it gives the chance to make a real difference in young people's lives, develop one's own skills in a fast-paced and supportive environment, and enjoy a flexible and varied working day. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
