Careers at Marvellous Maps

OUR MISSION Marvellous Maps entertain and inspire people to discover and explore Britain’s best bits. We strive to be a ‘good’ business by considering the impact of our decisions on people and on the planet, minimising our environmental impact and supporting our 3 charity partners: Surfers Against Sewage, Trees for Life and John Muir Trust. We became a certified B Corporation in November 2021.

OUR PEOPLE The most important bit! Our people are a unique mix of bright, fun, creative, helpful, collaborative and team-minded professionals, dedicated to delighting our customers. We're always on the lookout for great people, especially those with relevant professional experience who now want to take a more interesting direction in life... so even if we're not advertising a specific role, please feel free to get in touch with us any time at hello@marvellousmaps.com.

We're committed to diversity, equality and inclusion. Our customers, suppliers and other stakeholders come from all walks of life and so do we. We hire, develop and promote great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it makes our company stronger. In our quest to entertain and inspire people to explore Britain’s best bits, we’re building a culture where difference is valued. Come and be part of our adventure!

OUR PRODUCTS & FUTURE PLANS Our range of folded, flat and framed thematic maps of Britain are perfect for adventurers, curious minds, road trippers, culture vultures, outdoor enthusiasts, foodies, bookworms, film fans, map aficionados... and anyone whose wall or holiday plans could use a bit of livening up. All Marvellous Maps are dreamed up, designed and made in sunny Britain. Our future plans include becoming a more mature, content-led publisher (without losing any of the fun of the brand), and diversifying our offering.

Escape's take on Marvellous Maps

Marvellous Maps exists to amuse, entertain and inspire - three things that we could all do with a little more of in 2021. But it’s not just adventure lovers with a sense of humour that benefit from the witty products on Marvellous Map’s virtual shelves. The team also shared their experiences of a collaborative working environment with plenty of freedom and great benefits. When reviewing Marvellous Map’s Escape 100 entry, the effort to minimise environmental impact, and commit a portion of revenue each year to environmental causes made it clear that this is an organisation that belongs in the top 100.

    📣 Mission & Purpose
Marvellous Maps creates corking content that informs & inspires so people can get outside and explore Britain's best bits. It's firmly focused on being a "good" business - one that strives to do the right thing by its employers, customers, the environment & wider communities.

    👩‍👧‍👧 Team members
Despite staff being 100% remote, Marvellous Maps has a strong sense of team spirit. There's an efficient on boarding programme that ensures new joiners are welcomed into the business efficiently & sensitively. There are also weekly 1-2-1s to make sure staff can raise any issues with managers, and also get to know other team mates well. There's a supportive, inclusive, can-do culture throughout the team

    📖 Opportunities to learn
Marvellous Maps recognises Learning & Development is integral to its staff personal & professional progression and the success of the company. Staff set L&D goals as part of their personal annual goals, they're encouraged to spend the equivalent of one day a month on structured L&D opportunities and funds are made available to pay for courses & resources. There's a weekly L&D catch up each Friday to chat through ambitions, aims, progress & handy resources & tips.

    Overall

Welcoming, fun, thoughtful, structured, a business that's sincere about its CSR & environmental aspirations and works hard to deliver them, a focus on learning & development, remote (in working but not ethos!) and flexible, annual above-inflation pay increases - a great place to work!
