Our organisation, the Surrey Poet Laureateship, is dedicated to enriching the lives of Surrey residents through the art and power of poetry. We provide an inclusive platform for diverse voices across the community, engaging individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities, including those who may not otherwise have access to the arts. Our beneficiaries include aspiring poets, local artists, students, and community members who wish to explore self-expression through poetry and literature. Through regular poetry hubs, open mics, workshops, and special events, we create opportunities for people to share their voices, connect with others, and experience the therapeutic and transformative impact of creative expression. Our programmes encourage confidence, foster community engagement, and inspire individuals to express themselves in a supportive, collaborative environment. By also championing the work of local poets, we aim to cultivate pride in Surrey’s cultural landscape, supporting both emerging talent and the wider appreciation of poetry in the community.
