Merstham Community Facility Trust (MCFT) is a registered charity established in 2006. We are based at The Hub in Portland Drive, Merstham. This is a modern, thriving Community Centre, owned by Surrey County Council, from whom we rent a number of rooms. Our organisation is based on three principles of Support, Empower & Connect We support the community by tackling food and energy poverty, running a food club and community fridge, providing packed lunches for children during school holidays. We operate several mental health initiatives and offer a daily Warm Welcome to reduce social isolation and we provide well being support. We empower the community by helping people to help themselves, developing skills, offering training and providing volunteering opportunities. We connect local residents by increasing local awareness, developing community interaction, and signposting to key support services and facilities. We are dedicated to our local community and helping our residents to achieving their personal, social and economic goals. Our efforts to serve the community include: challenging deprivation: supporting people to gain new skills; providing facilities that help to bring people together; promoting digital inclusion by giving access to information technology. We work with volunteers and partners to run a wide range of projects, activities and initiatives to tackle the needs of our community, to support the pursuit of their ambitions and priorities and to encourage and build on existing strengths and assets. We currently have a small staff team of 9, and otherwise operate with volunteers.
