Who we are We empower, develop and train young people and help them to create successful futures - at no cost to them. Many cope with adverse circumstances such as family breakdown, family members in prison, anger issues, mental health problems or drug problems. Our beneficiaries also self-identified three key underlying issues: Low aspirations, Low self esteem Low skill levels. Our work addresses these and other issues, providing training, work placements and supporting individuals in fulfilling their hidden potential. The young people we support are amongst the most deprived in the country, scoring in the worst 10% on the index of multiple deprivation. Our core beneficiaries are aged 16-25, 80% BAME and 60% female. Over 2,500 young creatives work with us every year, guided by our staff and volunteers to improve their lives and their economic potential. Outside of lockdown, we have 120 volunteers a week We find that, with the right support, guidance and opportunities our beneficiaries consistently excel and we have many alumni who are now industry leaders with high profile, award winning careers. Three of our artists have been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. Five were in the BBC’s top 10 ‘Sound of...’ lists in 2020. Currently, six of BBC1xtra are our graduates. One ex-trainee headlined Glastonbury.
