Objectives MORABE Rural Music exists to ensure that children and communities in rural areas have access to high-quality, lifelong music education—regardless of postcode or personal circumstance. Our work addresses the deep inequalities in arts provision across rural England, reaching those often overlooked by traditional infrastructure. We support children aged 0–18, their families, and wider community members through two core strands:
The Schools Pathway delivers in-school music education, including Kodály-based literacy classes, string tuition, choirs, ensembles, music therapy, and after-school clubs. We provide free instruments, means-tested bursaries, and tailored support for SEND pupils. Our goal is to ensure that every primary leaver is musically literate, confident, and creatively equipped for the future. The Community Pathway offers inclusive music-making beyond the classroom, from Mini Music sessions for under-5s and parents, to community choirs, intergenerational performances, and training opportunities for local adults. We build musical ecosystems that promote wellbeing, maternal mental health, community cohesion, and lifelong learning.
Our impact is both personal and systemic: we develop confidence, discipline, and aspiration in children; reduce isolation and promote wellbeing in families; and embed sustainable cultural infrastructure in rural places. We believe that music is not a luxury—it is a catalyst for growth, joy, and opportunity.
