“The foodbank was there when we really needed it, it was an absolute lifeline” We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. Our foodbank is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area. We started our foodbank in 2012 with £400 and 6 people and have expanded quickly. We are now open five days a week with a great set of volunteers who work hard and have fun too – we couldn’t do it without them, or without the great generosity of the people of Rochdale who help us in so many ways. We have three foodbank centres located across Littleborough and Rochdale. We work with local churches, schools and community groups towards stopping hunger in our local area.
