The Collective was started in New Zealand by two clever entrepreneurial chefs, Angus Allan and Ofer Shenhav. Their quest was simple… create an extraordinary yoghurt with an unbeatable taste…
Being well travelled lads with a couple of successful businesses under their belts, Ofer and Angus were not shy of the hard work ahead. Their sheer determination to achieve the unthinkable helped provide the fuel, their passion provided the key, their tenacity and skill delivered the goods.
Kiwis caught on fast and the resulting yoghurt rapidly found new homes across the land. In fact, within 10 months of its conception The Collective was New Zealand‚Äö√Ñ√¥s best-selling gourmet yoghurt…
It soon dawned on Ofer and Angus that the whole world deserved The Collective in their fridges so why not make it global!
They joined forces with Amelia Harvey and the late Mike Hodgson, a couple of savvy ‘Brits’ who knew a thing or two about the food industry in the UK and in 2011, The Collective UK launched onto the shelves of Sainsbury’s and Waitrose.
Ofer, Angus and Amelia’s mission is to create the world’s tastiest yoghurts, loved by those who consume them and stocked in fridges around the world. This is no mean task. The Yoghurt market is super competitive, we share the shelves with huge brands that have been around for years and they have deep pockets to support their brands.
Our success has come from having the tastiest yoghurts around but at the same time creating a business that’s honest, straight forward and also surprising. We want to talk to our consumers with warmth and thoughtfulness, we want to be a business that’s a pleasure for our retail customers to deal with and we want to create a buzzy, go-getter culture that makes you jump out of bed every morning.
