Our values
crees is non-profit and as such our values inform everything we do; from planting trees to offsetting our volunteer’s air travel to offering free educational opportunities to local communities. By holding ourselves to these 4 ideals we believe that anything is possible!

What can we offer Escapees?
crees offers you the opportunity to learn hands on skills at a working conservation research and sustainability centre. You can volunteer from 2 - 12 weeks or join our 6 month internship programme to become a member of our field staff.
Volunteers have unique access to both the conservation research and the sustainable community development projects providing a deeper understanding of the wider context of conservation and sustainability issues in real time.
Why are we exciting?
Crees has been delivering conservation research and sustainable development programmes for over a decade in the Manu Biosphere Reserve. Globally recognised as the most biodiverse place on earth and a UNESCO World Heritage site, Manu is also home to local communities who are trying to develop sustainable livelihoods that both protect the environment but provide economic and social development for them and their families.
Through strategic partnerships with some of the world’s leading universities and supported by the Darwin Initiative our conservation research and sustainable development programme informs local community and government decision makers and contributes valuable data to the manu national park’s management plan.
Based at the Manu Learning Centre, an active research centre, volunteers support the development of species field guides and peer-reviewed articles published in scientific journals.
Volunteers have unique access to both the conservation research and the sustainable community development projects providing a deeper understanding of the wider context of conservation and sustainability issues in real time.
As crees programmes operate 365 days a year and have long term aims designed by experienced researchers, volunteer efforts contribute to scientifically credible projects that address research and local needs rather than volunteer needs.
Volunteers receive hands on practical training from passionate field staff and gain work experience in a wide variety of conservation monitoring skills.
Crees employs local people and values volunteers to create, not replace local jobs.
All profits contribute directly to supporting sustainable development and conservation research in the Amazon.
crees was voted in the top 100 volunteer companies globally by the UK Telegraph and in top 12 ethical experiences for 2015 by World Travel Guide
The biodiversity levels found at the project location due to its unique location at an altitude which sees a crossover of species and variety of forest types is unsual. The regenerating forest found at the Manu Learning Centre is home to species such as puma and jaguar, a huge bird list and species of amphibians new to science have been recorded.
