We are a local, philanthropic, grant-making charity.  Our purpose is to prevent or relieve poverty, within our area of operation, for the public benefit, by providing financial support to people in need, hardship or distress.  We cover West Reading, Tilehurst, Southcote, Holybrook, Calcot and Theale.  Ours is one of the few local charities which can make grants of money to families and individuals – for the supply of goods or services or (exceptionally) for the repayment of some debts.  We often help people who have fallen through the safety net of state benefits or have a low income.
