Astralis Foundation is a new funding initiative that is now being spearheaded by a major European philanthropist. Astralis's first-year funding is expected to be $15–45 million, with an initial team of 5-10 staff. We hope to deploy even greater resources in the future, and much of the impact in this role will be enabling the organization to scale up its giving. Astralis aspires to become a leading AI safety funder within three years of launch, driving progress in the AI safety ecosystem and supporting a rapid proliferation of AI risk-reducing ideas, technologies, and organizations.
