Our organisation exists to deliver a major item of green infrastructure which will provide, sustainably, leisure and activity space in the open air for walking and boating.  The infrastructure item is an abandoned waterway in Wiltshire, Swindon and Oxfordshire which has been under restoration by volunteers for many years.  The target beneficiaries are anyone living in those three districts - the restored waterway will support a variety of businesses directly associated with use of the waterway and encourage more use of businesses such as canalside pubs.  The presence and use of the waterway, eg by boats, will make the areas through which it passes more attractive and pleasant to live in - house prices overlooking the waterway will carry a premium so current owners will gain.  We are one of two charities working in a complementary way to bring this old canal back into use - we are more focussed, at present, on maintenance of the towpath sections where we have agreed access with the landowner - on sites previously worked on by our companion organisation.
