About the Programme
Are you looking to move your life in a new direction? Do you want your work and your life to fit with your own values? Has the pandemic made you want to find something more meaningful in your life and work?
This uncertain time has led many of us to question our purpose and whether how we live is in line with what we believe is good for ourselves and our world.
For ten years On Purpose has been helping people transition into careers, but more profoundly lives, with more meaning and purpose.
Through our newest course, the On Purpose Pathfinder programme we’ll teach you the principles of design thinking to help you gain a new sense of purpose and confidence - and be ready to lead a purposeful life in our uncertain world.
If you’re looking for an opportunity to create a life and career that feels meaningful to you, this is the course for you.
What will you learn?
Session 1: Understanding and Connecting
This session is all about making sense of your story so far so that you can understand your context. While working through some exercises and gaining clarity on your current situation, we will spend time connecting and creating a sense of community.
Session 2: Creating a life vision
With an understanding of your context, we then introduce different frameworks and visualisation to create the vision of where you want your life to be, which fully resonates and connects with who you are.
Session 3: Framing your Challenge
We support the next step by helping you understand the gap between where you are and where you want to be. By framing and defining the challenge or the gap it allows you to shift your perspective whilst also acknowledging the elements of your life that need to be accommodated or built into the life scenario.
Session 4: Generating Possibilities
This session is all about working with peers to brainstorm and generate lots of ideas for potential lives and careers. Through several design techniques, you will get inspiration from others and build a genuine sense of excitement about the different ways you might lead a fulfilled life.
Session 5: Making it Happen
Some things work, others less well but without trying something you will never know. This prototyping stage gets you to plan out how you are going to test some of the options and start making them happen. We show you how to plan, implement, test and learn.
Session 6: Maintaining Momentum
After a slightly longer break between sessions, the group shares what they did and learnt. We provide some tools about how you maintain momentum, how you might deal with self-doubt and enable you to leverage support from your cohort to create ongoing change and practice lasting habits.
You’ll leave the programme with…
- Clarity of direction: Achieve new clarity on the ….
- A sense of excitement and possibility about your life
- A community of like-minded peers for your journey
- New resolve and skills to navigate change and uncertainty
- New tools which will help you in your career and on your new path
- A whole host of new possibilities to continue exploring to give you a sense of purpose

Pathfinder participants
This is what some of our past Pathfinder participants had to say about their time on the programme...
Shalaka Laxman
"It has given me access to an incredible community of intelligent and socially conscious people and I'm looking forward to staying connected. The programme has also taught me how to develop tangible actions to steer my career (and life) into an impactful space that is meaningful to me."
Allison Hood
“The programme is geared towards clarifying a vision (big or small) and provides simple and effective tools to enable you to make it happen. Great for both those pivotal moments in a career and also for smaller life choices. I highly recommend it.”
Ed Blogg
“The On Purpose Pathfinder Program greatly surpassed my expectations. The course was very well structured with a plethora of practical tools that were easy to use but gave acutely personal outputs. The most valuable part in my view were the course peers. I’d highly recommend anyone to do the programme - if not now, when?”
Zhu Yihan
“I have been so lost when I tried to find what my purpose is. The program has provided me with tools to challenge myself and understand myself a bit more…but also being surrounded by the right people, ask thought provoking questions, has given me so much positive energy.”
Sam Rawbone
“If you're looking for help in improving the direction of your life - this is the dream programme for you. You'll come out wiser and stronger, with hopefully an awesome cohort you can call friends.”
Programme FAQs
All your questions should be answered here.
We are not a careers advisory programme but the Pathfinder Programme is all about finding direction and creating a life full of purpose, meaning and positive energy. Some participants focus on changes to their career whilst for others it is about better aligning their life to their values.
We give you the tools to get clarity on what you want in your life and work and empower you to make those changes.
On the Pathfinder Programme, we do not partner participants with a coach and mentor like we do in the year long Associate Programme.
However peer coaching and support is a key element of the programme. Between each fortnightly workshop, peers meet to build trust and accountability, share ideas and help each other keep momentum.
The Pathfinder Programme is a 5 month online course where you will use the principles of design thinking to help you create a life and career with intention and purpose. The six fortnightly facilitated, workshops and peer led sessions works alongside your work and life.
The Associate Programme is a year-long, full time leadership programme. You give up your current job to join and go to work in two work placements at purpose-driven organisations. This on the job learning is complemented by an weekly intensive learning and development programme. You are also partnered with an executive coach and mentor to support you through the year long programme.
Both programmes are deeply participatory and both enable you to connect deeply to yourself but also to a network of peers that are asking similar questions about the contribution they want to make to the world through their life and work.
