Amani Institute is a global non-profit organization based in Kenya, India and Brazil, whose mission is developing professionals and organizations who create social impact. We create this impact via innovative models of higher education that help individuals acquire the practical skills, personal growth, and networks to take on modern-day social challenges.

Our core methodology comes to life in our award-winning Certificate in Social Innovation Management, which runs in Nairobi, Sao Paulo, and Bangalore, or remotely in a fully digital edition. As of 2020, 600 Fellows from 70 countries joined the program. Alumni of this program are further eligible to transfer credits towards an MBA from Lynn University in Florida and/or a Diploma in Social Innovation from the United Nations-mandated University for Peace in Costa Rica. This program won the Ashoka U - Cordes Award for Innovation in Higher Education in 2017 and has been featured in Fast Company, Forbes, the Stanford Social Innovation Review, CNBC Africa, and Vanity Fair, among others.

We currently train over 1000 changemakers each year through our varied mix of programs, and bring thousands more to our events on 21st-century careers, the future of work, and social innovation.

About the Programme

About the Programme

The Social Innovation Management - Digital Edition is more than just a typical online course. Through high-intensity interactive learning and personalized coaching sessions, the programme will provide you with a systemic and granular understanding of the impact sector.

With the help of global practitioners who are masters in the fields of Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Management, Communications, and Innovation, you will become part of an engaging global community of impact professionals that are seeking to build cutting-edge 21st-century skills! During the process, you will also introspect about your own goals and motivations, align who you are with what you want to do, and create a new strategy for your career.

Programme Structure

Weekly classes

  • 2x 120-minute live interactive webinars per week, at fixed times and dates that will be announced well in advance at a time most suitable for everyone to participate from all over the world (most likely at 3 pm UTC on Tuesday and Thursday)
  • 1x 120-minute session per week, in smaller groups based on timezones of participants, to build a deeper connection with the instructors and to get feedback on your work.
  • 8 hours of independent work per week
  • Personalized coaching sessions across the 5 months of the programme
  • A wide range of networking opportunities to introduce you to the global community of impact professionals, with guest speakers, online gatherings, one-to-one connections.
  • Global dialogue’ video calls with Fellows from other countries and webinars with Amani alumni to learn from peers and strengthen your connection to our community of 540+ Fellows from 64 countries

With our emphasis on real-world application, you will also apply on-the-job what you learn in the virtual sessions, and make sense of the social impact sector. You will work a minimum of 24 hours a week, through:

  • Targeted application in your own place of work if you already have a job or your own start-up, OR
  • A guided process to find your own 3-month apprenticeship in the city where you are located, OR
  • An online consulting project selected for you by Amani Institute in a social impact organization, where you will work in a team with other Fellows.

Your Social Innovation project

During the programme, you will develop a new idea to address a social problem or opportunity that you personally care about. You will be guided through a structured process for generating creative ideas. You will prototype a new idea for social change, see how the world reacts, and present your project to complete the programme.

The True Cost of the Programme

Providing a world-class educational and life-changing experience is expensive to do. Amani Institute, as a social enterprise, depends on programme fees to sustain itself. But we are committed to being accessible to as many people as possible. The true cost of this programme at global market rates is much higher, we subsidise it through our consulting and training work.

Scholarships

Amani Institute understands that the cost of the programme may still be difficult for some of our participants. As a result, there will be limited financial aid available in extreme cases of need. The deadline to apply for this financial aid is the 20th December.
