When we think of large organisations we tend to think about big corporations, often those that act irresponsibly. But being a large organisation doesn't have to be a negative thing. Working on a large scale can simply mean having a bigger impact and reaching more people.

When creating the Escape 100 list of best organisations to escape to in 2021 , our “Impact” criteria referred to the scale of the organisation’s work. Not only does it denote how far-reaching the organisation’s work is in the world, but it also affects both the “Mission” and “Planet” criteria.

An organisation’s mission is multiplied if its impact is far-reaching. Similarly, an organisation’s environmental footprint is multiplied by its scale. In this way, the impact criteria had an important bearing on our calculation.
