We are looking for a motivated individual to grow and manage a tasting room, cider production, orchard and deli. The cidery is looking for someone with great communication skills, marketing background and/or business management who can manage and work in the tasting room and deli, help with cider production, work in the orchard and get things done. Experience in a cidery, winery or brewery is an asset but the right candidate is someone willing to learn and grow with the business. Drivers license required and ability to lift 50 lb kegs
The life of a cidermaker is seasonal, summer is busy but winter is slower. Salary based on experience. Performance rewarded with ownership opportunities. We are a small cidery working on being environmentally sustainable, giving to our community and producing quality products.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Manager is responsible for the management, direction and coordination for the cidery, deli, tasting room and orchard. Responsible for all product quality - completed by overseeing and directing all cider processing.
This position reports directly to the owners of the business.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages and directs production processes to maximize production capacity and efficiency without compromising adherence to the highest standards of safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and the Company’s vision.
- Interacts with sales staff and customers regarding cider and deli, on-site tasting, sample preparation
- Participates in the development of all cidery facilities.
- Manages inventory – both Bulk and Bottled cider
- Assists with month-end paperwork and reporting (Excise Duty, LDB)
- Assures effective communication among production staff along with all other departments.
- Manages and directs marketing of cider in BC and at the Tasting Room
PRODUCTION
- Knowledge of cidermaking is an asset. Works seasonally in the Orchard, during harvest and spring.
- Have working knowledge of all pieces of cellar equipment including, presses, filters, pumps, bottling line, other harvest equipment, barrels, etc.
- Works in cellar, especially during harvest. Remaining time spent in administrative tasks and marketing within the Cidery.
- Ensures deli is operated efficiently including staffing and supplies
- Works collaboratively with the Owners in all aspects of the job
