Background
A fabulous opportunity to lead our Christmas fundraising campaign and organize the most exciting Christmas event in London. Singing for Syrians harnesses the power of music to raise money for Syria’s most vulnerable – in ever greater need following February’s earthquakes. It has been running since 2015 and this year we want to make it bigger and brighter than ever and raise £152,000. There are three pieces to the campaign:
- our own exclusive Christmas concert + after party;
- the community campaign (encouraging others to hold their own Singing for Syrians party/carol service/hoe down/knees up/fundraiser); and
- our match funding appeal (1 week in December, launched the night of our carol service)
You will organize our Christmas Concert and After Party, securing everything from sponsorship (£25,000) to celebrity performers (previous years include Jeremy Irons, Katie Melua and Joanna Lumley) and venue. Working with the team, you will also make it as easy as possible for others to hold their own fundraisers, providing key information and guidance, and ensure everything is set up for the match funding week. Experience of dealing with HNWIs and major donors is key as well as managing budgets and high-end events. You also have a positive, pro-active approach and a sense of fun.
As a small team we seek a reliable multi-tasker, equally comfortable with talking to an ultra-high net worth donor or managing guest-lists for an event. We are a creative and ‘hands-on’ team and hope you are too.
This role will ensure that Hands Up:
- Successfully raises £152,000 via the campaign;
- Delivers a first class event for our Christmas Concert and After Party;
- Secures at least 20 third-party fundraisers for the campaign;
- Continues to expand its donor base; and
- Is able to continue providing critical health and education support to vulnerable Syrian communities.
