About the Role

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) has established an exciting new role to support the development and implementation of a new investment strategy and policy. It’s a role that will also be central to managing the performance, reporting and engagement activities for our c.£450m investment portfolio.

Reporting to the Head of Investment, you’ll be responsible for portfolio management; overseeing operational activities across the portfolio, monitoring and analysing day to day investment performance as well as building fund manager relationships and engagement on mission-aligned issues. You’ll prepare reports on portfolio performance and engagement for the Investment Committee and Trustees and ensure the investment portfolio values, performance and fees are reflected accurately in the management accounts and annual accounts and report. You’ll also support and inform the development of JRF’s new investment strategy and policy through work with colleagues across JRF, external advisors, IC members and Trustees.

About You

We’re looking for someone who has experience in a relevant investment related role, analysing and reporting on investment fund and portfolio performance. With strong analytical skills and the ability to present information in a simple way, you’ll have good knowledge of financial markets and be familiar with data collection and analysis, including long term projections and investment metrics. We’d like you to have experience and knowledge of a wide range of asset classes and of working with fund managers and have experience of responsible investment and shareholder activism.

Direct experience or close knowledge of impact investing is desirable, as is experience in the charity or foundation sector. Experience of private equity funds would also be advantageous.
