The Branch Nurse will support the Chief Nurse to provide overall professional leadership and clinical development of the nursing and care assistant workforce in Northern Ireland.

We are looking for both full time but also part time workers as well!

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of governance and compliance and will be responsible for providing assurance that all regulatory compliance relating to the registered service in Northern Ireland is adhered to. This will include overseeing the recruitment and interviewing process for all NI Nurse applicants and providing ongoing professional support.

Requirements

  1. Demonstrate self-direction and good time management in relation to the organisational requirements and expectation.
  2. Successful candidate will support the Chief Nurse and wider organisation to develop strong professional links with external organisations, these may include the NMC, RCN, RQIA and others.
  3. The post holder will be an ambassador for the temporary workforce, supporting the Chief Nurse, Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer to promote the values of the organisation .
  4. Engage with the clinical on-call requirements
  5. Support the Governance Team to monitor and develop policies and processes relevant to the Northern Ireland Branch of the organisation.
  6. On occasion, the post holder will be required to deputise for the Chief Nurse and Branch Nurses within other parts of the organisation in their absence.

Person Specification:

Essential Criteria

Qualifications

  • RN/ RMN
  • Degree or equivalent
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • 5 years’ post registration experience
  • Managerial/leadership qualification
  • Accredited teaching / assessing certificate

Experience

  • Experience at working at a senior level (Band 6 or above)
  • Experience of teaching/supervising in a clinical setting.
  • Evidence of clear understanding of regulatory requirements (Northern Ireland).

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership/ organisational skills.
  • Sound clinical / Managerial skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously without supervision
  • Ability to produce concise reports

Knowledge

  • Demonstrates specialist knowledge of the health and social care sector
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant subject, or working towards

Additional

  • Exemplary record of attendance.
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Able to travel across the UK if required
  • Evidence of good problem solving

Desirable Criteria:

  • Managerial/leadership qualification
  • Accredited teaching / assessing certificate
  • Experience of working at senior level within the Social Care setting
  • Involvement in auditing standards of care.
  • Experience of the Governance and risk agenda
  • Evidence of change management in clinical practice
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with technology to improve accessibility to training / education and communication
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant subject, or working towards

Responsibilities:

    1. Support the Chief Nurse in delivering all aspects of the Revalidation agenda and assist in the monitoring of compliance related to revalidation.
    2. Assist the Chief Nurse in providing professional appraisals, giving honest and useful feedback to the professional workforce.
    3. Ensure all Clinical Supervisions and Interviews are completed in a timely manner and documented in relation to the regulatory and policy compliance requirements.
    4. In conjunction with the Chief Nurse and Registered Manager for Northern Ireland; the successful candidate will occasionally be required to deliver face to face training.
  • Governance and Risk Support:
    1. Work closely with the Chief Nurse to ensure that all elements of the Florence Risk Strategy are adhered to and address gaps in clinical delivery where required.
    2. Support the Chief Nurse to address concerns related to the delivery of clinical care in Northern Ireland, compiling incident reports relating to, but not exclusively, Safeguarding, Medications management issues and Coroners reports where required.
    3. In line with the governance and compliance strategy; adopt a proactive approach to clinical concerns raised by clients, and ensure that all learning is identified and disseminated.
    4. Provide monthly reports for the Chief Nurse in relation to NI compliance.
