Your Role

As our Data & Insights Manager, you’ll evolve and maintain data and insights at Work.Life, fully integrating data into the heart of decision making across the business and maintaining a trusted single source of truth. 

You’ll actively manage your time between delivering your day to day role, measured through your role KPIs - and delivery of quarterly company rocks, which are our biggest priorities, reviewed every 3 months.

Everyone has a part to play by participating in key cross-team business projects & workstreams to drive continuous improvement in how we work as we scale.

Your contribution will support both the delivery of our everyday mission to make people’s work lives happier, and our long-term growth ambition to scale Work.life over the next 3-5 years.

People & Leadership

·You’ll hold regular training sessions/power hours to develop knowledge within the team

·You’ll regularly offer feedback at all levels across the business on data challenges

Your Day to Day Responsibilities:

·Leading relationships with related departments such as Sales, Marketing, Operations & Finance

·Managing data governance - ensuring that Work.Life’s data is a single source of truth

·Overseeing the data pipeline and any ad-hoc work required by outsourced data engineers

·Using DBT to enhance the data offering through modelling the data

·Creating and evolving data visualisations in Metabase

·Carrying out ad-hoc analytics, and deep dive reports in BigQuery

·Managing and prioritising incoming data requests in line with company objectives

·Providing input and guidance on any areas for further investment

·Managing relationships with third party suppliers

How you’ll measure success

Your role is part of the Commercial team, and success is measured across the following KPIs, which contribute directly to your team achieving the overall department’s performance goals.

Data & Insights: Quick response to data bugs

·Initial response within in 4 hours: Not resolution within 4 hours but acknowledge, assess issue and urgency, plan next steps & communicate approx. timeframes

All team having access to insights:

·Stakeholders should expect a 14-day turnaround on new requests

·Small suite of dashboards created & maintained per department 

Elimination of data queries resulting from ‘dirty data’

·Processes & reports in place to prevent / flag incorrect data inputs

Key outcomes in the first 6 months

1.Produce a suite of department-specific dashboards which enable teams to make day-to-day data driven decisions, with initial focus on the Commercial, Finance & Operations teams.

2.Champion and lead the Work.Life Data Culture: 

·Implement and review the data governance strategy 

·Be an integral part of the company rocks process - from discovery to assessment of projects, ensuring that data dependencies are understood from the outset

·Engage Work.Life colleagues to engage and be analytical in the questions they ask and the way the utilise the data visualisation tools

·Hold monthly data sessions - showcasing new dashboards or insights 

·Identify and empower data representatives within each team, to be a go to for their department 

·Innovate the new data pipeline to maximise insight while being efficient in terms of data ingestion

3.Create/develop the data strategy (in-line with company objectives) looking at additional data sources and insights that would benefit Work. Life’s goals

4.Provide support for investor relations - answering ad-hoc urgent questions at short notice. 

Skills, Traits & Competencies

·Highly commercial with the ability to turn numbers into clear actions and outcomes 

·Agile and flexible to adapt working style / approaches

·Innovative problem solver 

·Detail oriented Project Manager with strong organisational skills

·Great communicator at all levels 

Experience requirements

·5+ years hands-on experience ideally with time spent working in standalone roles 

·Excellent SQL skills 

·Excellent Excel skills 

·Strong experience of creating data visualisations.

·Understanding of data governance 

·Desirable experience with DBT or other analytics engineering tools
