Launched in 2019, Taptap is tapping into a transformative shift in global finance: from banks to phones. While this has affected wealthier countries as well, it has been nothing short of a revolution for the emerging markets where the overwhelming majority of population had been unable to access digital finance previously. Its first product, Taptap Send, allows immigrants to send money home instantly and with no fee, saving money in the process. With a formal market size of >700B alone, we’ve got a lot more saving to do for our users. And that’s just the beginning….

The Role
This is a crucial role for Taptap Send as we continue to grow at a triple digit rate over the coming years. It’s a true #2 role in Finance - leading our controls and FP&A teams. It’s wide ranging- we’re a financial company so the finance team sits at the heart of what we do. You will be responsible for making sure the tablestakes are done in a seamless way - reporting, controls, processes, audit, tax. But beyond that you’ll be a strategic leader - playing a critical role in how the business decides on its future, and how it executes on those decisions. And you’ll have the opportunity to continue our work on building out a world class team to support the business on its journey.
Responsibilities
Lead the Team
Lead and motivate finance team - build out a world class finance team, who own the reporting and FP&A, deeply understand the business, enable growth and play a critical role driving the strategy and operations Build out the team - TTS is growing quickly and our team will need to as well. You are able to identify talented individuals and move swiftly to add them to the teamBuild out Foundations
Management reporting - oversee monthly close and AP for a group of companies processing millions of transactions a year in different currenciesRegulatory reporting - oversee daily safeguarding reporting, monthly regulatory capital reports, and various financial reports required by our regulators in the UK and abroadTax and audit - collaborate closely with our tax advisors and auditors in various countries and ensure our returns (incl. income tax, share options, VAT, R&D, etc.) are filed on time and that we are following local requirements; identifying advisors and auditors in new markets and setting Financial systems and process improvements - build on our recent transition to new accounting software - implementing controls around bank accounts, credit cards, and spending
Drive business strategy
FP&A - you’re responsible for ensuring that business strategy is driven by rigorous analytics, using both internal and external data to generate competitive advantageBusiness partner - you’ll be highly visible across the business as you interface across functions, using data to advise and to hold to account. You will swiftly become a trusted advisorInvestor and lender interface - responsible for complying with our financial reporting obligations to investors and lenders, including monitoring compliance with our covenants. Work closely with the CFO on building strong relationships with existing and potential finance providers. Have the team in a state of readiness to answer their questions quickly and accurately
Requirements
Experience as VP Finance/Director (#2 in finance) of a high-growth start-up, preferably in the FinTech spaceExperience handling high volumes of transactions in different currenciesExperience overseeing international operating entities - preferably regulated entitiesExperience building and leading a teamUS GAAP experience preferred; IFRS experience requiredDetail-oriented -- you sweat the small stuffHighly organized and able to balance competing priorities, including across teams and with external partners
