Launched in 2019, Taptap is tapping into a transformative shift in global finance: from banks to phones. While this has affected wealthier countries as well, it has been nothing short of a revolution for the emerging markets where the overwhelming majority of population had been unable to access digital finance previously.  Its first product, Taptap Send, allows immigrants to send money home instantly and with no fee, saving money in the process. The Role

We’re seeking an experienced manager with 4+ years working in a fraud or compliance function at a financial institution or startup. The role is full-time and based in any of our global hubs (Brussels, London, New York or Toronto) depending on preference or remote with an expectation to spend 2 weeks per quarter colocated within one of these locations.

You will work closely with the Head of Financial Crime, Compliance Officers, and the wider Taptap Send business to implement fraud controls for Taptap Send’s global operations. You will manage a team of analysts on a fast-growing global team. You will be highly analytical, with intimate knowledge of SQL, and capable of continuing to build and maintain our counter fraud strategy across all of our current and future markets. 

Your responsibilities will include:

Leadership of our team of fraud and data analysts. Overseeing the daily operations and implementation of our fraud program. Proactively finding patterns in our transactions that are indicative of fraudulent activity, particularly in new markets. Working with our analytics team, and using SQL, to build reports that identify fraudulent activity in our transaction data. Maintaining and developing our risk control processes to increase both efficiency and effectiveness. Owning responsibility for maintaining a low rate of fraud and identifying areas where this can improve. Using existing software and identifying and implementing new integrations that allow us to make our product safer without compromising our clean UX. Working closely with our Compliance Officers to ensure operational delivery of all AML and compliance requirements. Working directly with our eng and product team to spec out new features that improve customer experience, keep our app secure, and reduce customer friction.

You have:

Have 4+ years working in a fraud function at a financial institution or tech startup. Experience using automation and/or machine learning to solve scale problems for fraud and/or AML. Are a great coach and have excellent interpersonal skills with solid previous management experience. Have the ability to think both tactically and strategically about the implications of changes to our fraud controls. Have the initiative to explore ways to improve our current program to make it more successful, including changing processes and bringing on new 3rd party software. Are analytically fluent enough to carry out your own routine analysis, high level knowledge of SQL is a must for this role. Show the humility required of working at a growing startup. You must be willing to tackle problems wherever you can help solve them. Have the right to work in whichever global hub you are applying for (depending on your preference for location).
