Carbon13 is the venture builder for the climate emergency. We are selecting and supporting 1,000 entrepreneurs over 5 years who will build scalable ventures with the potential to reduce carbon emissions by over 400 million tonnes.

We are recruiting an Automation Product Manager to work on the infrastructure and automation of our systems; with the goal of creating efficient internal processes and a world-class community experience for our cohorts of founders, startups, and investors. For the right candidate this is an excellent opportunity to bring engineering and product skills to bear on a range of impactful and scalable decarbonisation projects.

The role is remote but the right candidate should be in a time zone compatible with the UK (GMT) or Europe (CET). Occasional travel will be required for team events in Cambridge, London, or Berlin (expenses covered) and candidates who live within commuting distance of one of these hubs are preferred.

Tasks

As a growing business about to launch our third global location, we need experienced support in reviewing and automating our processes, as well as managing the build our own products for the future. Carbon13 have an outsourced IT helpdesk for day to day requirements, the Technical Product Manager is a more creative, project focused role to help us escalate our tech solutions and build a more efficient way of working.


  • Work with Carbon13’s product and service centre teams to gather requirements for products, taking a user-centred and customer-centred approach (this could range from reviewing our day to day systems through to supporting development of brand new bespoke Carbon13 products)
  • Map out and take ownership of the architecture of our internal and external-facing systems
  • Create and maintain a data model that will drive our processes
  • Create internal documentation that effectively enables self-serve use of our technology stacks
  • Make use of APIs and other tools to automate a variety of internal processes and connect disparate tools together
  • Managing various relationships internallly (leadership teams and departments) and external resources (briefing & managing external software developers)

Requirements

Essential


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computing science, HCI, or a related discipline, and/or at least 5 years' experience in a similar role
  • Experience gathering user requirements in an SME context, and translating these into an organisation-wide system architecture.
  • Good project management experience, with an ability to oversee product development and manage internal and external resources
  • Experience creating and maintaining data models
  • Direct experience of content management systems, APIs, and web technologies like JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
  • Knowledge of using agile development tools (e.g., GitHub, Trello) and the ability to break big problems down into smaller deliverables while keeping the big picture in mind
  • Strong analytic, project management, communication, and stakeholder liaison skills
  • Highly collaborative, enjoys discussions about architecture, design, and user experience. You’re confident, a great listener, and you seek to simplify the complex
  • Sensibility to modern design patterns and experience with HubSpot, Microsoft tools, and WordPress are a big plus
  • A genuine passion for finding solutions to climate change
  • An appreciation and understanding of DEI

Desirable


  • Understanding / or previous engagement with Edtech / Exec education / university products
  • Previous experience with venture builder / accelerator programmes
