The Charity:
Stem4’s mission is to foster the development of good mental health in teenagers through enhancing early understanding and awareness in individuals, their families, schools, health professionals and the community, promoting shared early detection and signposting towards prompt action and early intervention.
Our Aims are to:
● Raise early awareness and highlight the importance of early intervention in teenage mental health issues, taking positive steps to help stem problems at an early stage
● Educate through interactive conferences for schools and digital tools such as the Head Ed programme, a comprehensive website and national campaign days
● Encourage debate and shared information through a programme of conferences targeting students, parents/carers, education and health professionals
● Provide self-help through our free mental health app library, website and downloadable resources
Role We are looking to recruit a dynamic, engaging, and experienced Youth Engagement Coordinator to work with our newly formed Youth Advisory Group. You will be a committed individual who can work professionally, efficiently, sensitively and flexibly with our energetic and passionate group.
You will uphold our organisational values, and be committed to the role of supporting and shining a light on the needs of young people.
Role Activities
We need you to further recruit, gain loyalty of and manage our stem4 Youth Advisory Group who have made a commitment to assist and advise stem4 on activities which will ultimately:
● steer young people to help us drive the charity from a youth perspective.
● bring together like-minded, committed young people who share stem4’s mission and wish to promote positive teenage mental health.
● empower young people to be involved in decision making at every level - from community to Trustee Board level.
● facilitate and help us gain feedback on specific projects such as our resources / apps / websites / social media accounts /research.
● Facilitate and accommodate young people’s voices into our overall messaging ensuring it connects & resonates with young people from all communities.
● Inform a greater understanding of the mental health landscape for young people by listening to what matters to them.
● help maintain our overall aim to be influenced equally by both young people and those who support them.
● identify hard to reach and in need communities
● guide our fundraising team on the acceptance of support (ethical fundraising).
● help our HR team write our code of conduct.
● support our comms team by scoping case studies for press releases and to further develop messaging for hard to reach communities.
● help our education team identify how/where we could further develop and promote our educational resources.
● help our clinical and digital team with feedback on our apps.
● support our media team to identify key ambassadors for the charity.
● contribute to the evaluation of our strategy.
Working alongside the stem4 team, you will ensure that young people mutually benefit from participation. You will identify and build relationships and networks with charitable and non-profit organisations as directed by the stem4 strategy.
Skills required:
You will have
● excellent people skills.
● experience of working with and engaging young people.
● experience of managing a small group of young people to maximise opportunities.
● confident group skills, ability to deal with differences of opinion in order to facilitate productive discussion, managing attendance, absence, safeguarding.
● excellent knowledge and understanding of the difficulties and challenges young people face at each life stage.
● excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● understanding of what’s important to young people
● empathy and sensitivity to draw out personalities
● excellent organisational and IT skills including Google, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Excel and Zoom, CRM experience
● the ability to manage workload and prioritise.
● strong attention to detail and a willingness to accurately record meeting minutes, feedback.

You will be appointed subject to an enhanced DBS check. We offer a happy, positive and welcoming working environment within our new office in Wimbledon.
