The Role

The role of Mobile Bike Mechanic at Beryl is central to what we do - maintaining micro-mobility vehicles for use in our schemes. We are building teams across the country and whilst each has a local flavour we will all work to the same standards, job requirements and targets to maintain the same open and supportive culture. We are a young business and we are still learning. All staff have a crucial part to play in this.

Based in our workshop in East London you will be looking after the UK’s first e-Cargo Bikeshare Schemes in the boroughs of Hackney and Westminster. You will be in charge of maintaining the bikes to gurantee a smooth day to day operation of the scheme. You wil alsol be trained in Beryl’s pedal bikes and e-bikes to support other locations such as our Watford scheme. Additionally the role entails operational support on an ad-hoc basis.

Responsibilities

As a Mobile Bike Mechanic you will;

- Maintain a fleet of 12 e-Cargo Bikes across Hackney and Westminster
- Carry out battery swaps
- Maintain a small fleet of pedal bikes for Hackney Council
- Return bikes in need for repair to the workshop
- Responsible for the in-field quality by identifying damaged bikes and on-street - furniture, rebalancing wrongly parked bikes, etc.
- Being able to perform quick repairs in the field.
- Ensuring batteries are charged, swapped and accounted for at our local depot.
- Operational support and assistance - mainly to our Head of Bike and Problem Management Team
- Support the Watford scheme
- Keep accurate service and maintenance records whilst completing vehicle builds and repairs in our App.
- Help to support continuous service improvements.
- Provide general help and support to our customer base on-street in a polite and helpful manner.

You will be working 40 hours a week on 5 days from Monday to Friday. In exceptional cases there may be some weekend work involved. Shifts are 8 hours per day between 7am and 7pm.


Skills/Qualifications/Behaviour

- Mechanical background and interest preferable.
- A keen interest in the micro-mobility sector.
- Comfortable riding a Cargo Bike.
- A full and clean driving licence is desirable.
- Good communication skills.
- Punctual with good time-keeping skills.
- Be a team player, working and helping your local and the wider Beryl team - but also able to work on your own
- Willingness to travel to other Beryl schemes within the UK if and when needed
- A quick learner, who is able to follow instructions
- At all times work to Beryl standards ensuring maintenance and vehicle builds provide safe vehicles to our Customers.
