The role

We are looking for an experienced and self-driven Technical Business Analyst

The GoHenry Technology team is adding a Technical Business Analyst role focusing on compliance to protect the strategic growth of the business.

The candidate will be responsible for understanding the requirements proposed by cross-functional Product teams and translating those requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications that the engineering team can work with.

The Technical Business Analyst will influence teams in relation to design, technology decisions, timelines and release schedules. The candidate will need to establish close partnerships with all the teams in the business to ensure successful releases.

The candidate will be working closely with the Operations Product Manager to achieve compliance goals and will report to the BA Manager.

Your key responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Work closely with the Product Operations and the Compliance teams to understand past and upcoming mandates as well as regulations, translating them into specifications
  • Work with the Product teams and develop a deep understanding of requirements and functionality that they would like to implement
  • Write detailed functional and technical specifications that the engineering team can work with. This includes workflow diagrams, database models, API specifications and pseudo-algorithm.
  • Research and recommend solutions to the engineering team if necessary
  • Proactively follow execution with the engineering team within an agile environment including continuous delivery, quality management and document maintenance.

What we’re looking for

  • At least 2 years’ proven experience in writing functional and technical specifications for a B2C web company
  • Some knowledge of banking mandates and or regulations
  • Have experience in pre-paid card, payment systems or retail banking
  • Have a technology background as a developer, preferably back-end (Java, PHP, …)
  • Have a very good understanding of back-end, web and mobile app technology in a demanding B2C environment.
  • Strong technical skills including SQL, Open API (Swagger or other) and microservice architecture are required.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capable of articulating specific functional or technical assignment
  • Strong team player, ability to work in cross-functional teams with marketing, product, design, engineering, operations and partners.
  • Experience in building scalable and highly available global systems
