Founded in April 2020, our team combines climatic and earth sciences, sell-side financial research, Earth observation, machine learning, data and technology, engineering, and public policy expertise. We work from five continents.

Job Description:

We are looking for outstanding Geospatial Analysts to join our Geospatial and Earth Observation team. You will assist in developing and applying cutting-edge methods for monitoring ecosystem change, and/or statistical and machine learning models for assessing risk in the Voluntary Carbon Market. We work with a variety of remotely sensed and other spatial datasets, both produced in-house and from third-party sources, so we are looking for someone with solid GIS experience and excellent coding abilities. You will have scientific or industry experience in remote sensing and/or spatial statistics, and a keen interest in ecosystem dynamics and the carbon cycle. Ideally based in our London office, but we will consider remote applications within +/- 3 hrs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of state-of-the-art spatial models and tools for assessing and comparing deforestation rates and other aspects of environmental change, primarily providing GIS support.

  • Manage, archive and document spatial datasets.

  • Process day-to-day requests for GIS datasets and analysis from our ratings team.

  • Author reports detailing the results of spatial analyses and spatial models to a range of audiences.

You will be our ideal candidate if you:

  • Have an MSc (or equivalent industry experience) in a subject related to remote sensing or geospatial analysis, applied in an environmental context

  • Have a solid understanding of GIS concepts, digital cartography, and experience in efficiently handling large raster and vector datasets

  • Have good coding skills in Python for geospatial and statistical applications. In particular, GeoPandas, Rasterio, GDAL & Numpy.

  • Familiarity with any of the following would be a bonus: Postgres, PostGIS, Snowflake, AWS, Prefect, GitHub, QGIS, R, Jupyter Notebooks.

  • Have experience working with machine learning algorithms (classification/regression), experience with deep learning is a plus.

  • Are excited to work with people from a diverse range of backgrounds, spanning remote sensing, ecology, engineering, policy and finance, and from all corners of the world

  • Are positive and kind. As a team and as a company, we believe in being kind over being nice. We are constantly giving and receiving constructive feedback and we are always trying to be empathetic

Please know that even if you don’t have experience in all the areas above but think you could do a great job and are excited about building a great company culture, bringing transparency to the voluntary carbon market, and being part of a fast-growing team, we would love to hear from you!

What we’ll offer:

  • Competitive salary and equity in a rapidly growing VC-backed start-up through share options

  • Ability to learn and develop alongside a range of sector specialists from the scientific, economic and business community

  • Opportunity to work in a cross-cutting role, interacting with lots of different parts of the business

  • 25 days leave (with additional time off between Christmas and New Year, and for your birthday)

  • Private medical insurance, dental, critical illness cover, income protection, life assurance, medical cash plan, cycle to work scheme, and a health and wellness cash allowance. (May vary slightly for non-UK employees).

  • Enhanced parental leave

  • Regular social events

  • Opportunity to work remote or in our Central London office space (Old Street) with flexibility to work from home 2 days a week.
