We already count several of the world’s largest waste management companies among our clients and are experiencing accelerated growth. We now need a Year in Industry Research & Development Engineer to help with the continuous development of our product.
You will play a crucial role in improving our mechanical subsystems and reviewing our current systems to establish products that thrive in an industrial environment. Working closely both with the hardware team and the projects team, you will be based in our space in London with the occasional site visit to increase industrial understanding. This is a role with a lot of variety around an innovative and interesting product in a fast-paced scale-up environment.
The Role
- Research projects to improve pneumatic, robotic, and mechanical performance
- Trialing new product lines to help us pick more waste in less time
- Using Fusion360 to develop complex designs and drawings, and deal with suppliers to quote and order
- Playing a vital part in supporting Recycleye by providing our first response to engineering issues, reactive and planned maintenance activities, as well as proactive improvement works
- Supplying off-site support to our clients to improve the consistency of our products
- Helping to evolve and improve our existing systems as we grow, with feedback to the projects and tech team
- Reviewing our product from a value engineering perspective
- Working safely at all times following risk assessments and work instructions and maintaining a clean working environment
- Improving our product and processes to aid the company’s scalability and quality
- You’ll be set clear objectives for your year, with regular reviews to ensure progress for both you and the company
Requirements
- On track for at least a 2.1 in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent subject
- Passionate about environmental issues and solving the problems within the recycling industry
- Open to some travel within Europe
- Within a commutable distance from London
- Good communication skills
Extra:
- Experience with power tools and how to use them safely
- Experience assembling and installing equipment in situ
- Pro-active in identifying problems and solutions in various engineering products, projects, and processes
