Job Title: Fundraising Communications Specialist

Team: Fundraising and Programme Design

Reporting to: Fundraising and Development Manager

Salary range:

UK £32,000-35,000 GBP,

Europe 32,000-35,0000 EURO per annum

The Fundraising and Programme Design team is responsible for ensuring the financial sustainability of the organisation by mobilising resources to achieve its mission. They search and monitor for funding sources and mobilise grants to support the implementation of Climate Bonds Initiative's strategic objectives. The team provides coordination, processes, tools and hands-on support for the preparation of proposals and concepts, and also leads the facilitative design of cross-cutting, multi-regional, complex programmes. They cultivate and maintain oversight of relationships with funders through the donor management process. Through these efforts, the FPD team ensures that the Climate Bonds Initiative has the resources needed to achieve its goals and continue its important work.

The Fundraising communications specialist will be responsible for producing communication and marketing materials to support Climate Bonds’ fundraising capabilities with institutional funders and to increase our unrestricted grant income. This role will report to the Fundraising Manager and will coordinate with other programmatic staff to develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising and communications plan that drives engagement and support from funders, as well as raises awareness of the organization's mission and impact.

Key Relationships

  • Executive Director/CEO/Director, Strategy and Programmes: Ensure that messaging reflects the vision of the ED/CEO and is constantly evolving to reflect external trends
  • Heads of Teams: coordinate closely with all relevant teams to get team-specific input for marketing and communication materials
  • Communications Team: ensure alignment with broader communication strategy, design and branding guidelines, and inputting and reviewing broader comms outputs to ensure that they are targeting and relevant for funders where opportunistic to do so

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Fundraising Plan Development

  • Provide support to the Fundraising and Development Manager to develop and execute a fundraising strategy, focusing specifically on:
    • identification of the target audiences for fundraising communications,
    • identification of communication channels for each target audience
    • outline key messages to communicate including the organization's mission and impact, the specific projects or programs being funded, and the benefits of supporting the organization.
    • timeline for the implementation of each tactic, as well as a budget that outlines the resources required to execute the plan.
    • metrics and benchmarks to measure the effectiveness of the communication plan, as well as a process for ongoing evaluation and optimization based on the results.
  • Produce high-quality, compelling written and visual content, including case studies, annual reports, impact reports, pitch decks, credential documents and other fundraising and marketing materials to support fundraising efforts.
  • Sharing impacts, results, and successes of CBI to external target stakeholders (primarily funders) through a variety of multi-media (e.g. newsletters, blogs, customised email campaigns, etc.)
  • Support the Bid Writer, Grant Proposal Writer, and Bid Leads to ensure the quality and effectiveness of all fundraising proposals and materials, including design, use of language, storytelling, and persuasiveness – including proof-reading and editing of proposal documents.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to programmatic staff on best practices for communication strategies for fundraising purposes.
  • Support the development of program reports and communication materials, ensuring accuracy and consistency with program messaging.

Fundraising Plan Execution

  • Work collaboratively with programmatic staff to ensure that fundraising materials accurately reflect the organization's programs, initiatives, and impact.
  • Support the Fundraising and Development manager including drafting correspondence and managing stewardship efforts.
  • Monitor and track progress toward fundraising goals and develop regular reports to communicate progress and results to key internal stakeholders.
  • Support fundraising events and other initiatives as needed, and ensure integration of fundraising strategies into Climate Bonds Annual and Regional Conferences.

Requirements

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in communications, fundraising, or a related field, with a track record of success in developing and implementing comprehensive communications and fundraising plans.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit or similar mission-driven organisation
  • Knowledge of digital marketing and communications strategies and tools, including social media, email marketing, and website content management systems.
  • Proficiency with design software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop to create visually compelling fundraising and marketing materials.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and messaging that resonates with target audiences.
  • Project coordination skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with programmatic staff and other stakeholders to achieve shared goals.

Desirable

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a communications or fundraising role in an international context
  • Fluency or proficiency in a second language
  • Experience in designing and implementing digital marketing campaigns, including email marketing, social media, and online advertising
  • Knowledge of SEO and analytics tools to track and measure the success of marketing efforts
  • Experience with video editing and production software, such as Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Experience with data visualization software, such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS to customize and update website content.
  • Experience in developing and managing relationships with funders, including prospect research, proposal development, and stewardship efforts.
  • Familiarity with fundraising best practices and trends in the non-profit sector.
