Role Overview:
The Branch Nurse will support the Chief Nurse to provide overall professional leadership and clinical development of the nursing and care assistant workforce in Northern Ireland.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of governance and compliance and will be responsible for providing assurance that all regulatory compliance relating to the registered service in Northern Ireland is adhered to. This will include overseeing the recruitment and interviewing process for all NI Nurse applicants and providing ongoing professional support.
Requirements
Principle Areas of Responsibility
- Offers a full range of managerial nurse support to the Regional Team and across the organisation as required by the Chief Nurse.
- Works without direct supervision and is able to escalate concerns as required.
- Conducts all nursing interviews as per regulatory requirement and records these as completed in the Compliance Tracker
- Undertakes the mandatory 2 supervisions per annum with all registered nurses who are active within the registered service.
- Completes the annual appraisal with those nurses who are active within the registered service
- Undertakes risk assessments (Pregnancy / Healthcare) as required and records those in the appropriate tracker.
- Provides support to the Audit Manager where issues with compliance are identified
- Liaises directly with the Registered Manager for the region to support with additional appropriate requirements such as the Customer Needs Assessments and speaking with clients / workers as required; where issues of concern have arisen
- Supports the Chief Nurse to review Policies and Procedures relevant to the Registered Service in readiness for any regulatory inspection.
- Maintains accurate, contemporaneous and legible written records of activity
- Uses effective communication, written and verbal with all levels of the FLORENCE team.
- Fosters good relationships with the wider organisation and advises at a senior level where required and in the absence of the Chief Nurse may be required to deputise.
- Actively works towards registering as the Registered Manager for the region with a view to registering within the first 3 months of the post.
Essential Requirements:
- Registered Nurse or RMN
- Degree or Equivalent
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- 5 years post registration experience
- Experience working at a Senior level (Band 6 or Above)
- Experience of teaching/supervising in a clinical setting.
- Evidence of clear understanding of regulatory requirements (Northern Ireland).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven leadership/ organisational skills.
- Sound clinical / Managerial skills.
- Ability to work autonomously without supervision
- Ability to produce concise reports
- Demonstrates specialist knowledge of the health and social care sector
- Exemplary record of attendance.
- Flexible approach to work
- Able to travel across the UK if required
- Evidence of good problem solving professional development.
