Requirements

Joining the Director of People and Culture as the first line of support, we seek a People Coordinator to provide daily HR functions to all departments across Origin, including teams in Cornwall, London and those working remotely.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced 'people professional' looking to further develop their career in HR and people development. The role will provide a wide range of support, acting as a liaison for Origin team managers and employees and the people team, ensuring smooth communication and prompt resolution of requests and questions. In addition, the role will assist in updating policies, processes, and documents as we continually improve and evolve our ways of working, responding to legislation updates and how to be a better employer.

With demonstrable experience in working with autonomy and managing a varied workload, the role requires someone who is comfortable working with our team members across all areas of our business, including wholesale, e-commerce, and retail.

The role requires someone with the excellent organisational ability, familiarity with HR software including ATSs, strong communication skills to support and deliver whole recruitment lifecycles, knowledge and demonstration of keeping abreast of employment law changes, talent pipeline development and duties required of an HR generalist.

Key responsibilities are:

Employee engagement and wellbeing

  • collate and assess employee satisfaction data through regular surveys and workshops.
  • regularly review and suggest additions to our employee health and well-being benefits.
  • work with internal stakeholders to develop and enhance employee engagement and cultural improvements for all Origin employees.

Employee team support and development

  • act as the first point of contact for all employee queries and answer all enquiries from team leads and line managers.
  • to support the implementation of training and development and performance improvement plans and programs across Origin teams and departments.
  • develop key working relationships with all team members for Origin to develop and grow our people to be better versions of themselves.
  • performance management - administration of the probationary review and performance management programs, including notifying managers of upcoming reviews, tracking completion, and evaluating all reviews to highlight performance and training issues.
  • provide administrative support on employee relations cases as they arise.

General and administrative task support

  • support and assist the Director of People & Culture with all administrative processes of the employee life cycle across all Origin departments and locations to provide efficient and effective people support.
  • responsible for managing people and finance-associated processes, including payroll and tracking and reporting new starters and leavers using Origin’s cloud-based HR system CharlieHR.
  • support Origin’s business administrator with booking team meetings, away days, training sessions and venue booking.
  • be the first point of contact and response for all external queries in the People@ inbox
  • be the first line of support for Origin employees seeking information, advice and support regarding benefits and options available to them.
  • manage and maintain employment-related changes - preparing documentation as necessary; updating contractual changes, databases and cloud-based systems; ensuring information on all team members is accurate, legally compliant, complete, and processed in line with applicable Data Protection legislation.

People analytics and data

  • work with the Director of People and Culture to collate and analyse data, including turnover, attrition, absenteeism (by department), overtime, equity, diversity, and inclusivity to shape workforce development.
  • run monthly reports on turnover, absenteeism, attrition, and overtime.
  • review people-orientated costs, including those incurred through recruitment (onboarding and offboarding) activity, training, and development.
  • update CharlieHR with all pay, promotion, and role change information.

Recruitment and retention

  • advise and guide Origin’s appointing managers with the employee life cycle, including:
  • reviewing and updating job descriptions with team leads
  • places to advertise
  • working with agencies
  • shortlisting, interviewing, and appointing the new hire process
  • manage the advertising of Origin roles on industry-specific job sites, including relevant, new, and upcoming sites and places.
  • complete all pre-employment checks, including references and right-to-work applications.
  • responsible for timely preboarding due diligence, including confirmation of employment, terms and conditions and right-to-work checks.
  • responsible for successful onboarding processes, including working with team leads and line managers to collate and distribute onboarding orientations.
  • responsible for off-boarding Origin leavers, including conducting exit interviews and contractual and process due diligence so we remain compliant whilst celebrating them moving onto new pastures.

Systems and processes

  • manage advertising Origin job roles, including maintenance and performance of our applicant tracking system (ATS), including content updates, role advertising and full hiring process.
  • maintain and update employee files and the people team database on CharlieHR.
  • monitor all important documentation such as probation forms, performance reviews, performance improvement, training, and development plans, as well as disciplinary and conduct documentation.

Essential qualities to have

  • educated to degree level or equivalent up to CIPD Level 3.
  • demonstrable HR experience, with a strong interest and enthusiasm for working continuously to improve and develop a people team in a brand-led business.
  • demonstrable experience working with up-to-date employment legislation, practice, policy, process, and systems.
  • in-depth and confident understanding of up-to-date employment law and changes.
  • you have heaps of enthusiasm, diplomacy, and patience and yet you have;
  • a sense of urgency and confidence working in an ever-changing environment.
  • an ability to prioritise, manage your own workload and show initiative.
  • good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessments.
  • excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • a good sense of fun, a creative outlook, and a willingness to learn.
  • an ability to effectively manage a cloud-based HR database with a strong focus on data integrity.
  • a strong understanding of all Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and confidence in the use of digital technology.
  • willing to relocate to Porthleven, Cornwall.

Desirable qualities to have

  • CIPD Level 5 qualified.
  • experience of working for an owner / founder-led brand.

Salary

£25,000 - £26,000 FTE per annum
