Bevi is seeking a Junior Firmware Engineer to develop and implement embedded code that runs on current and future Bevi products. This role will have the responsibility for designing a system that delivers delicious drinks in a reliable and consistent manner in addition to developing tools that will enable our engineering team to invent, implement and validate new ways to deliver an exceptional user experience at a rapid pace of development. The Junior Firmware Engineer will work with a team of engineers and be a major contributor to overall system definition, documentation and system integration activities.

Responsibilities

  • Specify and drive multi-processor architecture for onboard firmware to facilitate consistent reliable operation, remote management, diagnostics and scalability of Bevi’s rapidly expanding fleet of machines.
  • Help drive processor / microprocessor selection based on system requirements.
  • Develop and maintain firmware including algorithms, operating systems and device drivers.
  • Support the bring-up and issue debug on new / current platforms and provide feedback to the hardware team.
  • Design and maintain APIs to connect machines with various systems, including user interface, cloud backend and diagnostic tools.
  • Integrate, analyze and report system sensor data, and implement control algorithms according to sound theory and best practices.
  • Support R&D, product development and manufacturing teams with creation of internal tools to monitor and control various systems.

  • Develop and expand your knowledge in higher-level programming languages such as Python, Java, or Kotlin
  • Gain valuable experience by contributing to driver development and AOSP modifications on our AOSP devices. Gain knowledge of key components such as device tree, Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL), kernel modifications, and customizations for our unique hardware configurations and devices.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other related field
  • An agile mindset to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience writing firmware for ARM Cortex M family processors in C and C++. Experience with Atmel SAMD processors is a plus.
  • Experience with embedded operating systems such as FreeRTOS and device drivers
  • Experience implementing real time control systems
  • Experience working with git and collaborative workflows
  • Experience with embedded system debug and bring-up
