Design Engineer

We are looking for a customer focused Design Engineer to join our awesome Product Team to ensure we continue to deliver on our promise of providing world class pizza ovens and accessories. We’re investing in infrastructure to build a truly world class product development and engineering facility right here in Scotland. This is a huge opportunity to join a highly motivated team of design and engineering professionals creating great products, great culture and, of course, great pizza.

This is an on-site role, working 5 days per week from our office in Broxburn, West Lothian.

• Live and breath Ooni products and the customer experience to understand how our products can be better.

• Work closely with many areas of the business, including product, testing and marketing and our manufacturing partners.

Reporting to the Head of CPI Engineering, you will be one of the key members of our Continuous Product Improvement team. On any given day you will find yourself investigating and resolving issues, identifying improvements for our products, helping to develop ways of working and methodologies for the team and form a feedback loop into our new products to make sure they are always getting better! 

You will work in a very open and collaborative environment; the best idea wins, regardless of role or title. Our product team is ambitious and innovative and always has their foot on the pedal.

What you’ll need to succeed:

• 
  
• Experience (ideally 3+ years) in development and engineering, ideally to manufacture, of consumer products
  
• Experience in robust design methodologies
  
• A passion for wrestling difficult engineering problems
  
• A solid theoretical background in engineering principles
  
• Interest in cultivating a multidisciplinary skillset, developing products and packaging
  
• Degree or qualification in Engineering or relevant field
  
• Experience working with overseas manufacturers
  
• Demonstrable experience working on complex consumer products and systems
  
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly explain and present design solutions
  
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  
• Team player, optimistic and solutions focused
  
  

You’ll get bonus points if you have experience with the following:

• 
  
• Six Sigma or equivalent methodologies
  
• Professional experience or hobby level interest in mechatronic engineering
  
• Sheet metal and plastic part design for manufacture
  
• Solidworks CAD software and sheet metal tool add ins
  

• 
  
• Additive and subtractive manufacturing techniques and technologies
