Description

As a member of the Manufacturing Team, will drive development of test methodologies for integrated hardware, software, & firmware products, support manufacturing test development, & develop software required to support test data collection & processing. Will work closely w/ Software & Hardware Engineering Teams as well as Manufacturing Team to identify & prioritize validation testing, lifetime testing, & support manufacturing testing.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that hardware, software, & firmware are integrated into a seamless product that meets all customer expectations
  • Validate hardware designs across all requirements including lifetime & reliability testing
  • Design & develop test fixtures & test programs to ensure total quality of integrated products
  • Work w/ Manufacturing Team to develop manufacturing line tests & procedures as well as end of line testing
  • Develop data processing scripts & metrics dashboards to support manufacturing & quality teams
  • Perform periodic trend analysis & corrective action effectiveness measures to identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Perform integration testing of consumer products w/ hardware, software, & firmware components
  • Perform reliability statistical calculations, such as lifetime tests including mean time between failure (MTBF), Mean time to Failure (MTTF), & failure rate modeling analysis
  • Create & implement data collection and analysis tools, using DataQ & Labview
  • Analyze test results data using Minitab, Reliasoft & other statistical software detect any issues & do root cause analysis (RCA) & various troubleshooting & corrective & preventive actions
  • Review Failure Analysis Reports from suppliers & help validate the root-cause of the failure
  • Perform thorough investigation of issues that arise during testing, identify root cause, & formulate containment, corrective, & preventive actions.
  • Document issues in Defect Tracking system w/ clear & concise problem statement, root cause, supporting data & log files, & provide steps to reproduce any expected behavior
  • Develop new test equipment & experimental test procedures, test methods & statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability
  • Execute written protocols & procedures for performing product & system testing, record & analyze data, communicate results w/ engineering teams to maximize learning & impact product validation
  • Perform accelerated life testing of different parts of different suppliers to failure modes & make product more robust, utilizing the P-Value Method to explore failure modes & grow reliability
  • Support development & implementation of procedures for measurement system analysis, Test Method Validation, & Critical-to-Quality Attribute (CQA) assessment
  • Lead development of control plans, & test/inspection procedures to identify & eliminate risks associated w/ products & processes
  • Participate in PFMEAs (Production Failure Modes & Effects Analysis) to improve manufacturing process
  • Drive cross-functional problem-solving teams to drive process & product improvements & facilitate issue resolution including root cause investigations & the development, implementation, & validation of effective corrective & preventive actions
  • Support development of manufacturing end line testing, controls & test plans to address risks identified in FMEA
  • Perform process capability studies, design experiments, risk analysis, gage repeatability & reproducibility studies, statistical evaluations as necessary to increase control & lower total quality costs
  • Design effective experiments through DOE or other methods to support design teams in investigation of various alternatives or in design validation testing & create new test protocols
  • Analyze customer complaints, events and other post marketing surveillance data by examining the data for patterns and trends and investigate
  • Validate risk analyses and risk mitigation plans and activities, control plans, and Quality Systems
  • Review, analyze and report on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems
  • Participate in failure analysis and corrective action investigations

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of mechanical engineering experience in integration testing of consumer products with hardware and software components
  • Experience, which may have been gained concurrently, must include the following:
  • 2 years of lifetime test experience including mean time before failure analysis and reliability analysis and troubleshooting
  • 2 years of experience in data analysis and validation
  • 2 years of experience in designing and constructing test apparatuses to support development, manufacturing, and quality
  • Candidates for consideration will be expected to demonstrate a sound understanding and applied knowledge in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Root cause analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE), Design Quality Test Plans (DQTP), Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement. This position requires excellent written and oral communication skills an ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and effective way.

This position requires up to 10% domestic travel.
