BeZero Carbon is a global ratings agency for the Voluntary Carbon Market. We distribute our ratings via our SaaS Product, BeZero Carbon Markets, informing all market participants on how to price and manage risk. Our ratings and research tools support buyers, intermediaries, investors and carbon project developers.
Founded in April 2020, our 120+ strong team combines climatic and earth sciences, sell-side financial research, earth observation, machine learning, data and technology, engineering, and public policy expertise. We work from four continents.
Having raised a significant Series B funding round in late 2022, we are rapidly growing as a company, accelerating the Net-Zero transition through ratings.
Job Description:
The Head of Press / Press Lead will play an important role in building BeZero’s credibility through the media. You will report directly to our CEO, partnering closely with the executive team to deliver media and public relations.You’ll need to be a strong solo operator who is able to hit the ground running, however there is also the possibility of growing a team around you in the future.
Responsibilities:
Own our media relations strategy, partnering with our executive team to deliver compelling advocacy for the business at the right time and place
Act as an advisor to executives for external communications, briefing founders and senior management to help them get the most value out of press engagements and land core messaging
Work with our policy teams and external PR agency to land our core policy messages in the media through effective communications campaigns
Coordinate our PR activities, rapidly triaging, assessing and responding to requests
Own the day-to-day relationship with our external PR agency
Build and maintain relationships with relevant EU journalists and publications
Be responsible for all BeZero’s crisis communications
Key skills and experience:
You have experience as a working in agency, government or in house as a PR or press lead
You have experience in financial services communications
You are an excellent writer, who can draft both corporate press notes and technical writing suitable for a B2B audience
You have existing relationships with a variety of journalists across business, financial, climate and sustainability press and media, as well as experience building relationships with journalists and publications from scratch
You thrive under pressure and confidently manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
