We are looking for an experienced Head of Commercial to join the pack and lead our Finance and Commercial Functions. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic thinker and dynamic leader who is passionate about driving growth and profitability. The successful candidate will report to Piglet in Bed’s COO and be responsible for growing the business and ensuring adequate financial controls and reporting are in place for the next stage of our growth.

The ideal candidate will be well equipped to wear two hats in the organisation:

  1. Finance: Manage our finance function by developing and implementing financial policies and controls, and ensuring accurate and timely financial information is communicated to the rest of the management team and the board
  2. Commercial: Research, design and implement commercial projects spanning across the organisation and support the existing department leads when it comes to commercial questions

We're a small, close-knit team of around 25 at Piglet. That means that alongside the high level strategic thinking, you'll also need to be a real do-er; unafraid to get stuck into the nitty gritty of the role. As a senior team member, you'll need to be a champion of culture, willing to jump in and help, support or cheer on the team when needed.

Specifically, your responsibilities will include:

Finance

  • Developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
  • Developing and managing budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Overseeing financial reporting and analysis, including supporting the preparation of financial statements, variance analysis, and management reports.
  • Providing financial analysis and recommendations to support decision-making across the organization.
  • Ensuring compliance from financial, tax and legal perspectives in all of our geographies.
  • Managing relationships with external partners, including auditors, tax advisors, and lenders, to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Commercial

  • Helping to develop and implement commercial strategies according to company goals and objectives aiming to accelerate growth.
  • Monitoring and analysing sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth, and developing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Leading negotiations with key stakeholders (such as landlords, distributors, etc.) to optimize our terms & costs from a commercial perspective.
  • Leading the deployment of new technology across the organization in collaboration with our tech agency, ensuring all projects are scoped holistically.
  • Owning and developing the commercial relationships with our key B2B partners (John Lewis, Nordstrom, Next) to maximize sales and revenue.
  • Monitoring performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for senior management.
  • Review all new contracts and agreements across the business and ensure they are viable from a commercial perspective.
