Papier, purveyors of an eclectic emporium of stationery and desk products that invite curiosity and contemplation, is looking for a US Head of Wholesale Operations.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will be responsible for defining and executing our operations strategy through a continuous improvement programme to support the rapid growth of our Wholesale business. You’ll drive impact through analyzing, developing and influencing business strategies and building exceptional partnerships. You will work cross functionally with internal and external stakeholders to ensure end to end execution of wholesale orders run smoothly, meet deadlines and stay within budget.

Main Areas of Responsibility

  • Work alongside the Operations Director to define and develop the wholesale strategy to support the growth of the business over the next 5 years
  • Own and manage the relationship with the wholesale 3PL partner including negotiating terms to define SLA’s and costs
  • Ensure 3PL are compliant in wholesale packing, routing, and overall fulfillment (to include freight, if required), according to partner-specific requirements.
  • Accountable for optimizing our wholesale warehousing and fulfillment operations for maximum efficiency, flexibility, and scalability whilst focussing on driving sustainability initiatives
  • Work closely with internal and external finance teams to ensure proper invoicing and accounts are in line with budget, flag potential discrepancies and variances to plan.
  • Provide operational support to the Wholesale Director around sale initiatives including pop-ups, trade show participation, and wholesale campaigns.
  • Play a key role in developing the demand planning process for wholesale working closely with the Merchandising, Buying and Finance teams
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with manufacturing partners within the US, suppliers, 3PLs and customers
  • Analyze and leverage data to ensure continuous improvement and innovation within the Operations Department.
  • Develop and manage scalable processes and workflows that deliver on performance. across multiple locations with different volumes and complexities. i.e. consistent, timely, and accurate deliveries of jobs across all operating markets.

Requirements

  • 8+ years experience in operations within a relevant consumer product business in the US working within wholesale or including wholesale as part of responsibilities
  • A proven track record of scaling logistics operations processes, driving efficiencies, and enhancing customer experience within a start up or scale up business
  • An advanced level of understanding in data analysis, financials, operational metrics, and process improvement
  • The ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and build exceptional external partnerships
  • Proven record of working with major retailers in the US such as Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Costco, Lowes or Amazon
  • Experience of D2C logistics operations or print operations an added bonus
  • Travel : Approximately 30% of time. Both domestic and international will be required to US office in NY, UK Head Office in London and 3PL partners across the US. Ability to travel via car, plane, rail is essential.
