Role Summary

  • Orchestrate Low Carbon Group's financial planning and drive group valuation.
  • Collaborate with various departments to translate group strategy into actionable plans.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting cycles, providing analysis and insights for value growth and risk mitigation.
  • Conduct variance analysis, business performance reviews, and prepare group valuations.
  • Engage with third-party firms for audit sign-off and tax review, and communicate valuation narratives to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to financial modelling, risk analysis, and market research to inform strategic decisions.

Role Description

This position reports to the Chief Finance Officer and will have responsibility for orchestrating the Low Carbon Group plan and drive group valuation across the whole group. The role will work closely with other departments in the Low Carbon Group and areas of expertise in the Finance function. Based in our new, modern London office, this role will be part of the Senior Finance Leadership team with the overall goal of creating a world-class finance organisation.

The candidate must have commercial awareness and possess excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. The candidate must also have experience of working in a business partnering role in a matrix organisation, at a senior level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Partner for Low Carbon Group
  • Translate the group strategy into the business planning cycle
  • Orchestrate the 24 month rolling plan and the long range forecast, ensuring stakeholders take ownership for the plan
  • Lead the group Budgeting and forecasting cycles, developing analysis with insights for actionable value accretive and risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Maintain live planning forecasts and tools for simulating dynamic scenarios, integrating different parts of the group, conduct variance analysis to derive insights to drive additional value and reduce risk
  • Facilitate business performance reviews, discussion on key business drivers and value creation opportunities
  • Prepare the group valuation (Enterprise and Equity), the Share Options valuation and supporting analytics
  • Maintain the Group Valuation Policy and guidance
  • Engage with 3rd Party Valuation Firms to get required level of audit sign off and tax review
  • Work with strategy and other areas of finance, to deliver a valuation narrative to shareholders, colleagues and other stakeholders. Make recommendations to increase the value of Low Carbon
  • Provide an external lens on Market dynamics to support development of a house view of macro and micro assumptions into the Valuation Committee
  • Provide oversight and assurance of models around best practice consistency and risk of commercial assumptions made
  • Identify commercial areas where financial specialist knowledge is required
  • Contribute to risk analysis, review and mitigation
  • Proactively conduct analysis to drive additional value and support business case development
  • Ensure the team is supported by the Finance centre of expertise and act as the main liaison point with finance expertise
  • Part of the business leadership team and the Finance leadership team
  • Research market changes, industry trends, and competitor analysis to inform the analysis of internal performance

Skills & Experience

  • Finance professional/degree or equivalent
  • A depth of relevant and demonstrable experience in Financial, Planning & Analysis including reporting to senior business leaders, acting as part of a financial committee
  • Able to work autonomously in a highly demanding and often ambiguous environment
  • Experience in Energy, not a must, but would be valued
