Volunteer Board level position: come and help us do more for our mission !
Overview
£0
London; Hybrid
Expires 28-7-23 - Applications reviewed after this date
In the autumn of 2020, the Dunhill Medical Trust launched its new strategic framework: "Investing for Impact". It was back in the 1980s that the then Board recognised that the shifting demographics would drive a need for investment in a high-quality research base to improve our understanding of the mechanisms of ageing and to deliver innovation in the health and social care of older people. Since then, the Trust has been funding some of the best of the UK’s academic and clinical researchers to do just that. As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, this need will be even greater and the opportunities are immense to make real systemic change. The Trust plans to play its part in three broad ways:
• investing in ideas;
• connecting research and practice and
• fostering flourishing communities.
Board vacancies
We welcome applications for the position of Trustee from candidates with expertise in one of the following areas, consistent with the themes of our current plan. We have two potential vacancies.
The first candidate, in addition to their Board responsibilities, should also be prepared to serve as Vice-Chair of our Research Grants Committee. They should therefore be experienced in committee work, expert peer panel review and should be:
- a research active geriatrician or gerontologist or;
- an academic leader from a discipline relevant to understanding the mechanisms of ageing or treating age-related disease.
The second candidate, in addition to their Board responsibilities, should also be prepared to serve on the Investment Committee. We are therefore looking for someone with a good understanding of investments and the financial markets, but particularly someone who has:
- an interest in investing to generate both a financial return alongside positive social impact
- an understanding of impact investing, preferably with experience developing relevant investment strategies and polices
- a commitment to responsible investment, ideally with knowledge of endowed trusts and foundations' models.
You can read more about our Impact Investment Policy here.
