The role overview:

The Brand & Retail Marketing Coordinator is an integral role which supports all the ways in which we engage with our customers and represent Origin within the Speciality coffee industry.

Reporting into the Senior Brand Marketing Manager, this is a hands-on role which is responsible for planning, creating, and executing great marketing activity across our coffee shops and other D2C channels. It also supports the Snr Brand Marketing Manager with implementing the overall marketing and brand strategy. Working across departments and pulling together different team members and ensuring everything stays on track, the role will manage and implement retail and broader D2C focussed brand campaigns focussing on ways we can drive brand awareness and increase product sales and loyalty.

The Brand Marketing Manager is integral in delivering excellence across retail. We see our coffee shops as the biggest brand advertising vehicle we have. They are not only there to serve our community of daily coffee drinkers, but they also act as a window to our ecommerce business and a showcase for both new and existing wholesale customers. They are the beating heart of our business and an integral part of how we represent our brand.

This role requires a deep understanding of the brand vision and identity, strength in cross-team collaboration, critical thinking, and a deep curiosity and understanding of our customers.


This role is based in London and requires regular travel to Cornwall and other areas where our coffee shops are based.

You will:

Brand:

  • Support the Snr. Brand Marketing Manager in executing projects and campaigns associated with the wider marketing strategy.
  • Act as the brand guardian for all brand touchpoints and ensure they are in line with visual guidelines. Share guidelines and offer support to all internal teams to ensure that every aspect of Origin’s external and internal communications represent the brand identity.
  • Act as the day-to-day support for the Origin Coffee PR agency.
  • Support the Snr. Brand Marketing Manager in keeping the marketing calendar fully up to date.
  • When required work with Origin’s Creative agency to deliver design briefs.
  • With the support of the Snr. Brand Marketing Manager, build and execute our new store opening marketing and PR plan.
  • Take responsibility for all D2C packaging and labelling requirements for new coffee releases and support the Snr. Brand Marketing Manager with the broader packaging development lifecycle.
  • Support the Snr. Brand Marketing Manager in developing and nurturing new brand partnerships for Origin Coffee.

Retail:

  • Be the go-to contact for the coffee shops for anything marketing-related.
  • Support the shop managers with representing the Origin brand in the best possible way, from creating instructions for how best to present the retail displays, to sharing guidelines about a new campaign launch.
  • Create in-store assets for all brand related items – from campaign POS to updating drinks menus or opening times. Working closely with the Junior Graphic Designer to do so.
  • Carry out regular shop visits (in person and/or remotely) to check on the visual standards and ensure they are always on point. You will have a critical eye and always ensure each store is following guidelines and always has the correct messaging.
  • Ensure you are checking in with every GM by phone or in person at least once per week.
  • Be the go-to contact for all local marketing opportunities. You are always striving to build and strengthen each Origin coffee shop within its local community through building a network of contacts and relationships.
  • Build and foster our local coffee shop communities through an engaging events program which showcases Origin brand as a leader in speciality coffee.

Proven experience in the following areas:

  • Experience in premium lifestyle / hospitality brand within similar role.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration experience across internal and external teams.
  • Excellent project management skillset, with an ability to prioritise short term and longer-term tasks.
  • Strong presenting styles and communication skills.
  • Is a great ambassador for the company: living and breathing the values.
  • You are highly organised. You can take on a number of different tasks and feel comfortable with prioritising and managing the expectations of those around you.
  • Customer-first mindset: you always put yourself in their shoes when it comes to how you approach a task.
  • You have a creative eye and can work well with designers to brief and deliver great, on-brand work.
  • Understanding of the print process.
  • Understanding of packaging development.
