So Energy was created in 2015 because we know there’s never a good reason to have a bad experience with your energy provider. Since then our renewable energy business has grown rapidly, with over 300,000 customers and 300+ So Energist and we aren’t done. The Role:

At So Energy, the Financial Controller plays a key role in shaping the business strategy. Supporting leaders from across the business to understand the financial performance of their departments and make impactful changes which will not only impact the Pnl; but also build a more engaging and sustainable business for our So Energists. The ideal person will be able to look beyond the numbers to see the bigger picture, communicating their vision to stakeholders from across a wide variety of disciplines

Key Duties:

  • Own and manage the financial performance of the business, ensuring that appropriate KPI’s are developed and monitored and work with the business to deliver, supporting and challenging them to ensure if going off track to get back on track within a short period of time.
  • Work closely with the management team to up-skill them with respect to the financial and commercial performance and how their areas link to driving the performance of the business – enhance the management reporting structure to support better decision making and increased knowledge.
  • Support and challenge the business to continue to deliver a low cost operating model while achieving the growth targets
  • Work closely with our CFO and the trading and sales team to develop clear commercial strategies – driving the growth in the energy and non energy sectors
  • Support a review of the trading arrangements within So Energy
  • Optimising the performance of the business to minimise the peak funding requirements
  • Develop an appropriate control framework to give Shareholder and Company comfort as to the risk management of the company while preserving the agility of the company.
  • Implement a fit for purpose governance model for So energy and develop a strong governance ethos in the business – a governance lead is required to be recruited in the business
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of statutory accounts and manage the external audit process

Who you are:

  • Experience leading financial strategies
  • Experience developing financial controls for a scaling business
  • Knowledge of Financial Planning and Analytics practices
  • Experience delivering change projects and reporting outcomes to Board level
  • Track record of implementing robust governance practices
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Experience within UK domestic energy industry is advantageous
