350.org is looking for a Indonesia Field Organizer to join our team of dedicated individuals who will support thenetwork of activists and groups in Indonesia, as well as collaborate with them to coordinate actions and campaigns that align with 350's values and strategic goals both within Indonesia and worldwide.

Job Summary

The Indonesia Field Organizer is responsible for growing, supporting and training a network of activists and groups in Indonesia, working with them to organize actions and campaigns that are aligned with 350’s values and strategic priorities in Indonesia and globally. They will build connections with existing grassroots networks working on issues of energy and climate justice, exploring opportunities for collaboration, and helping to develop joint work, and they will establish organizing structures that provide an entry point for new people to join the movement and for new groups to form. The role holder will also support with organizing and mobilizing nationally, regionally and globally for key moments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizing and Mobilizing

  • Build connections with existing activist groups, or support the creation of new ones, with the aim of helping to build a stronger, more diverse and more impactful climate justice movement in the Indonesia
  • Create and manage volunteer organizing structures on-and-offline (e.g. working groups) to help design and run campaigns, and to support the growth of the movement
  • Identify needs of groups, and provide support, training and resources to enable them to run or participate in effective local or national campaigns
  • Assist local groups with strategic planning, campaign development, internal norms and values development, and development of their strategic coalitions
  • Foster and develop a deeper understanding and effort around intersectional, climate justice and allyship organizing in local groups
  • Inspire, train and support our networks to participate in coordinated mobilizations or days of action

Implementing Campaigns

  • Implementing campaign plans together with the 350.org team and groups/partners, by consulting with them, delegating tasks and responsibilities, and coordinating their work.
  • Assist local groups in implementing their campaigns and connect those to serve national or global campaign objectives
  • Employ a variety of tactics including collaboration with partners, public campaigning (both offline and online)
  • Nurturing relationships with individuals and organizations in the climate and energy sector in Indonesia, as well as complimentary sectors.

Assisting the Wider Team

  • Contribute to the wider work of the Indonesia team, including through campaign planning; digital campaigns and communications; and coalition work
  • Contribute to Asia-wide initiatives (e.g. training programs; mobilizations)
  • From time to time, working with the wider Indonesian and organizational team on different projects. Presenting our work, representing our perspectives and assisting in the success of colleagues work.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ year of recruiting, organizing, training, and coaching volunteers and volunteer leaders
  • Strong motivation to help enabling just, sustainable and people-centered renewable energy solutions
  • Campaign strategy, planning, and management experience
  • Experience working well with the diverse people in our base, including race, social class, age, gender, sexual orientation etc.
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about climate justice 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt to and juggle evolving and competing priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Comfortable working independently as part of a remote team
  • Ability to travel within Indonesia 1-2 times per month on average

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Experience of working as part of a geographically dispersed team and network of campaigners and adept with using programs such as Slack and Zoom
  • Experience working with marginalized local communities, workers groups, and youth groups 

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and in teams, highlyresponsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others. 

Position Type: Full time

Compensation: Salary tier 1.3 and the salary 

Location: Remote in Indonesia

Travel: This position may occasionally travel from time to time (domestic and international)
