We are on a mission to connect purposeful businesses and their opportunities to local people – and create climate and social impact in the process. We combine digital and in-person delivery to connect disadvantaged local communities to career support, training and good work, in growth sectors like green skills and construction. We partner with public and private partners - from Local Authorities, Housing Associations and developers, to educators, corporates and business networks.
We’re growing fast, and now looking for a Programme Manager (Employability) to join our team. You will be driving forward two of the most ambitious and impactful programmes in London, with one holding the potential to create social impact for thousands of jobseekers while accelerating the UK’s transition to Net Zero – and you will be in a role with unlimited growth potential.
By joining GoodPeople you’ll be a part of a small, purpose driven team that cares about the communities it serves - and allows you to be yourself, develop your skills and have fun 🚀🌱
The Role:
As Programme Manager (Employability) you’ll be helping to lead the development of two large-scale and prestigious employability programmes in Central London. The programmes aim to place 400+ unemployed local residents into growth sector opportunities (particularly in construction and in green careers such as retrofit, EV Charge installation and more), alongside delivering invaluable career development opportunities to young people.
You’ll be building partnerships with employers and supply chain organisations to unlock opportunities for local people – and working with educators, employment intermediaries and community organisations to place candidates.
We particularly welcome local applicants, as well as those with lived experience of inequality. The role is hybrid - with 3-4 days per week in our office at Somerset House. You will be reporting to our COO, Joss Hunt.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading the mapping, outreach and engagement of key local organisations to unlock opportunities (jobs, work experience, internships and more) for local communities
- Collaborating with local community partners (including JobCentre Plus, charities, employment intermediaries and more) to build a pipeline of talented, unemployed local residents to place into opportunities
- Working with disadvantaged jobseekers to provide support, advice and encouragement to maximise the chances of a successful (and ongoing) placement
- Collaborating with the GoodPeople Tech and Project Management teams to use GoodPeople’s sophisticated digital career support platform to augment in-person delivery
- Work with the CEO and Director of Programmes to scope and set-up similar programmes in other areas of London
You’ll Need:
- 3-5+ years experience in careers support, employability, or recruitment
- (Preferred) Experience working with large employers and their supply chains/contractors (especially in the construction or green sectors)
- A demonstrated ability to lead projects, and deliver above and beyond targets and KPIs
- Exceptional relationship building skills – and the ability to communicate effectively, persuasively and professionally with both employers and jobseekers
- To be proactive and a self-starter, and be comfortable both working independently and as part of a team.
- To be adaptable - happiest in fast-moving environments and good at multi-tasking.
- To be purpose driven, and passionate about community, equality and impact!
Benefits:
- Salary of £43,000 plus £5,000+ target-based commission (uncapped)
- Flexible/hybrid working from our lovely office in Somerset House
- A MacBook Pro
- 25 days holiday pro rata
Application Process:
Our work is focused on supporting diverse communities – and we believe we’ll do our best work with that diversity represented. So we especially want to hear from ethnic minority candidates, and those with lived experience of inequality.
- Please send a CV and short cover letter setting out why you are a good fit for this role (a page is plenty!)
- Following our shortlisting process, we will contact all candidates to let them know the outcome.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview with the team discussing your experience, including a 10-15 minute task (don’t worry, we’ll send this to you beforehand).
