Papier is looking for freelance print designers to collaborate with us on our seasonal collections. The designers will create trend-setting and design-lead prints that follow our varied seasonal concepts whilst still aligning with the overall creative vision. Responsibilities will range from researching and mood boarding to executing beautifully crafted, hand rendered artworks. We are looking for designers who can deliver unique and exciting print styles and have an eye for detail and excellent use of colour. Designers will work closely with the CPO and the Head of Stationery Design and will make an essential contribution towards Papier’s in-house design delivery.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Demonstrate an in depth understanding of the seasonal design briefs and respond to concepts to produce aspirational print collections.
- Utilise advanced skills in illustration and print composition to create artworks with excellent execution in a variety of trend-setting colour combinations.
- Inspire the creative team by presenting design ideas and outcomes with confidence and clarity.
- Interpret and action any feedback quickly and efficiently.
- Maintaining an awareness of emerging trends.
- Drive the process of creativity and model excellent standards of diverse and thorough independent research, resulting in unique and inspiring mood boards.
- Actively manage your own schedule which may consist of multiple simultaneous projects to ensure that all key deadlines are met. Proactively plan and prepare for a project's next steps.
- Keep all stakeholders informed about a project’s progress, preparing any necessary design information to be shared with them at key stages and escalating any issues to the Design Studio Manager that may affect delivery.
Requirements
- A strong portfolio with examples of unique and beautifully executed hand rendered artworks.
- Attention to detail and an excellent eye for colour.
- Commercial awareness and an avid interest in emerging design trends.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite.
- Confidence in presenting work and design ideas to senior stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented & organised with good time management skills and the ability to work at pace and manage your own schedule to achieve deadlines.
- Working collaboratively with the team as well as independently.
- The ability to work with repeat designs and typography is desired but not essential.
