Travalyst, a global independent not-for-profit organisation, was established to bring sustainability information to the mainstream. Founded in 2019, Travalyst is a pre-competitive coalition of some of the biggest names in travel including Amadeus, Booking.com, Expedia Group, Google, Skyscanner, Travelport, Trip.com Group, Tripadvisor, and Visa.

In an industry first, Travalyst has brought these platforms together to change the way we travel, for good. Travalyst, and its coalition of partners, is working to present clear, consistent and credible sustainability information to the traveller at scale, using the platforms they already know and trust.

What does the Communications Manager do at Travalyst?

We are looking for a self-motivated and talented communications manager to work with our Head of Communications across all of our communications activity.

You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and the Product, Policy & Partnerships teams to deliver the weekly, monthly and quarterly priorities for communications. This is an opportunity to work with some of the leading brands in and around travel and have a real impact!

At the intersection of travel, sustainability and tech, Travalyst is currently focusing on the B2B audience. In due course, focus will shift to the consumer audience. So it is important that you are just as comfortable planning for keynote speeches at major sustainability conferences, as you are preparing spokespeople for interviews with international travel tech publications and writing media materials for consumer travel and lifestyle publications.

What sort of work will the Communications Manager be doing?

The main focus of this role will be to support the development and implementation of communication strategies that build awareness, trust and engagement for the Travalyst brand. Tasks include:

○     Support Head of Comms and Brand Marketing Manager to deliver high impact comms campaigns

○     Develop strong relationships with key media

○     Develop and maintain media lists

Internal communications

 ○     Support Head of Communications on internal comms programme including meetings and status updates

Other

○     Participate in the comms working group and build strong relationships with our partners at Amadeus, Booking.com, Expedia Group, Google, Skyscanner, Travelport, Trip.com Group, Tripadvisor, and Visa.

○     Day to day contact for the Comms agency

○     Monitor media activity and flag relevant stories

○     Prepare high level activity reports

How do we work?

We try new things, take risks, make educated guesses and move quickly. Most of all, we work closely and collaboratively, so adaptability, excellent communication and collaboration skills are a must. We are a fully remote team, so rely heavily on video calls and other technology. We have access to coworking spaces which the London based team members like to use on a regular basis, albeit there is no expectation to. We are not perfect, and pride ourselves by learning every day.

What skills we’re looking for:

 ●       Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or relevant field

●    Significant experience in a similar role, ideally including time working with a trade body or other multi-stakeholder environment

●       Flexible, open to change and new information; is first to understand when team behaviours and work methods need to adapt to new information. Travalyst is a start-up so it’s important to stay nimble and pivot on our journey as we scale

●       A good command of English is essential, as are excellent communication, diplomacy and interpersonal skills

●       Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques, with proven experience in creating targeted content

●       Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure, with a high attention to detail and a desire to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment

●       Comfortable working in a virtual-office environment (familiarity with Google Workspaces would be advantageous). Highly motivated and productive in that sort of remote environment

●       Recognises own strengths and weaknesses; pursues self-development and feedback

●       Treats colleagues and partners with respect: considers and responds appropriately to the needs, feelings, and capabilities of different people

●       A passion for sustainable travel
