Role Summary

  • Curate and deliver the Sifted Talks series.
  • Contribute to the Sifted Summit agenda.
  • Create networking experiences for startups and investors.
  • Develop deep knowledge of the European startup ecosystem.
  • Invite and manage VIP attendance and networking experiences.
  • Work closely with editorial and commercial teams to align on trends and opportunities.
  • Recruit diverse and exciting speakers from across Europe.
  • Build and maintain industry relationships.

Role Requirements

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.

  • Experienced in event content production and speaker recruitment.
  • Understanding of event sponsorship dynamics.
  • Willing to travel within the UK and Europe.
  • At least two years of experience in media/events.

Sifted is looking for a content and community manager (events) to join our growing events team. We have big plans to expand our events portfolio in 2024 and beyond and we are assembling a creative, enthusiastic events team to help make that happen!

Who we are

Sifted is the leading media platform, backed by the Financial Times, reporting on the world of technology and startups in Europe. Our high-quality journalism is a must-read for many founders, investors and people working in startups across the continent.

Our team of reporters, based across Europe, aren’t chasing the latest funding announcements or product releases; plenty of other sites have got that covered. We are telling the stories that should be told — big startup trends, compelling company profiles and the everyday lessons that come from growing a business and messing up along the way. 

After the launch of our first big flagship event in London in 2022, we have been carefully planning some big developments for the full events portfolio. Alongside the annual Sifted Summit and our popular digital panels – Sifted Talks – we are expanding our content team to prepare for an exciting new chapter. 

The content and community manager (events) will be responsible for curating and delivering the Sifted Talks product, contribute to the Sifted Summit agenda curation and lead on creating awesome networking experiences for our community of startups and investors. 

The role

Reporting to the senior content manager and working closely with the wider team, the content and community manager (events) will be responsible for creating thought-provoking and best-in-class agendas and leading on community building activities that Sifted can be proud of. Alongside content production, you’ll be inviting VIPs to attend the event and managing the networking and community led experiences on site. You’ll get there through developing an extensive understanding of the European startup ecosystem, careful research, creating exciting agendas, encouraging the best and brightest speakers to take to the stage at Sifted events - virtually, or in person and creating a network of Europe’s most prominent founders, investors and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Researching the most important startup trends to build out impressive event agenda and virtual events that Sifted’s audience — and clients — will love
  • Consulting with editorial and commercial teams to align on market trends, awesome speakers, sponsorship opportunities and must-have VIPs
  • Recruiting a diverse range of exciting speakers from across Europe for Sifted Talks and Sifted Summit
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with industry leaders, thought leaders and experts and taking ownership of speaker acquisition and VIP invitations for Sifted Summit
  • Leading on facilitated networking activations at Sifted Summit and establishing a growing network of founders, operators, investors and industry community groups
  • Curating the digital panels for Sifted Talks, working alongside clients to create sessions that are compelling, engaging and attract online viewers

London (although we are open to semi-remote applicants — we will be office based 2/3 days per week)

Requirements

Who we are looking for

This is a multi-faceted role in a fast paced environment. You’ll need to be comfortable juggling different tasks and be able to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders. You should be highly organised, a great communicator and possess a can-do attitude. You should be a self-starter who is excited to develop Sifted’s growing event portfolio.

You will be:

  • Confident in conducting phone, desk and face-to-face research with key players to identify market challenges, trends and developments
  • Experienced in writing and producing content-driven event agendas 
  • Knowledge of working on sponsored events with an understanding of what sponsorship offers clients
  • Results driven 
  • Excited by working as part of a team to ensure objectives and targets are met
  • Able to think independently and enjoy problem-solving
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to time
  • Excited by the prospect of travel in the UK and Europe to attend Sifted events

A minimum of two years experience in media/events and a desire to develop a strong understanding of the European startup and tech ecosystem is a must.
