  • Role Summary
    • Generating engaging social media copy for diverse arts activities and projects.
    • Regular scheduling and posting on social media for multiple projects and events.
    • Contributing to marketing strategies with innovative content creation ideas.
    • Designing simple graphics using provided templates.
    • Crafting e-newsletters tailored to different audience segments using Mailchimp.
  • Role Requirements
    • Demonstrated experience and keen interest in social media, marketing, and promotion.
    • Proven ability to create successful marketing campaigns and achieve audience engagement goals.
    • Knowledge of various communication channels and how to optimize them.
    • Passion for creativity and broadening access to the arts.
    • Proficiency in managing social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, including page management, interactions, and advertising.
    • Experience with social media scheduling tools and newsletter services.
    • Skills in graphic design and image editing for social media content.
    • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines.

Contract: Freelance, Fixed term with an initial contract of 7 months. There will be potential to extend the contract subject to funding. We are looking for someone who can make an immediate start. Ideally start of March – end of September 2024.

Hours: 7 hours per week from March – June (112 hours/14 days) and 4 hours per week from July–September (48 hours/ 6 days). Hours can be worked flexibly inline with key deadlines.

Fee: £4,000 (£25 per hour). We are open to negotiating with the right candidate.

Responsible to: Creative Director and Assistant Director

Main duties:

  • Creating copy for social media about activities and projects
  • Scheduling and posting social media posts on a regular basis for multiple projects and events
  • Inputting into marketing and communications plan with social media content creation ideas
  • Creating basic graphics (templates provided)
  • Creating e-newsletters for two different audience lists (members and general public) (Mailchimp)

The key duties will be delivered across multiple projects, some of which have different brands and separate social media channels:

  • Spring Fling Open Studios – 3-day event at the end of May spanning region
  • Upland made – 2-day event at beginning of November in Dumfries
  • Exhibitions
  • Artist residencies
  • Youth projects
  • Artist professional development activities

Person Specification

You must have:

  • Experience and a strong interest in social media, marketing and promotion
  • Strong experience of creating marketing campaigns and know how to set and reaching audience engagement targets
  • You will understand how to best identify different communication channels
  • You will have a passion for creativity and making it accessible for a wide range of people
  • Experience using Facebook, Instagram, Twitter (X) to engage audiences. This includes managing pages, groups and advertising, interacting with audiences, scheduling posts
  • Experience using social media schedulers and newsletter mailout platforms
  • Experience in making graphics and editing imagery for social media purposes
  • Be able to meet the specified deadlines
