Role Summary

  • Take the lead in launching Beam’s innovative Housing First programme in Oxford.
  • Manage and mentor a team of 1-3 caseworkers, while handling your own caseload.

The Role

Beam creates impact for those that need it most, this impact is driven by our Operations team. As a Housing First Lead Caseworker, you’ll be at the forefront of Beam’s new Housing First programme in Oxford, designed to support those experiencing homelessness whose needs aren’t met by traditional homelessness services. You’ll be both designing and setting up our new programme in collaboration with others in our team, managing 1-3 caseworkers, and owning a caseload yourself.

This position offers the unique blend of managing a high performing team that delivers a crucial service, alongside strategising and executing operational change to support some of those who need it most.

You’ll be

  • Leading delivery - You’ll play a pivotal part in setting up this programme and the partnerships needed for it to be successful
  • Creating a positive, impactful working culture - You’ll foster a culture of high performance and top quality support in an emotive and complex environment
  • Making lasting change in the way(s) we work - Constantly looking at how we can improve, you’ll hypothesise and run multiple tests to improve our ways of working
  • Solving complex problems - no two outcomes are the same, you’ll find creative ways to unblock barriers to entry for various disadvantaged groups, ensuring our support plans are tailored to each member
  • Managing a small caseload of members - you’ll manage a small caseload of members, giving an unrivalled lens to the way we work and how we can improve our service

You are

  • Experienced working with people with high supports needs - many of those referred to this programme will have extensive histories of rough sleeping, require drug and alcohol support and have severe mental health needs which all need support
  • A people leader - arriving with an impressive background of managing high achieving teams: striking the balance between a positive working culture and a drive to achieve targets
  • A developer of talent - you want to get the most out of a diverse team! Our Operations team is made up of people from diverse backgrounds: ranging in age, experience, skills and life experiences

Success looks like

  • All our Housing First referrals are sustaining their tenancy, meaning Council referrals are of the street and working towards long-term independence
  • Your team is impactful, regularly achieving over 80-100+% of stretch targets on a quarterly basis
  • Your team is happy, engagement and motivation in your team is scored highly in surveys/feedback
  • You make us more efficient, projects you are working on reduce admin time and make us more impactful in the work we do (resulting in more outcomes for our members)
