Role Summary
- Develop and manage the Virgin Red AWS Cloud platform, ensuring security, stability, and innovation.
- Collaborate with development teams to provide cloud-based solutions for Virgin products and services.
- Create shared modules and tools to streamline development processes.
- Adopt and implement cutting-edge technologies and practices.
- Champion high-quality technical design and system integrity.
Role Requirements
- Profound knowledge of AWS services and automation with Python/Boto3.
- Ability to craft solutions within a set framework independently.
- In-depth experience with infrastructure as code, especially Terraform.
- Understanding of multi-account AWS setups and cross-account permissions.
- Familiarity with HTTP, RESTful APIs, source control, and deployment pipelines.
- Strong grasp of security best practices and effective team communication.
- Willingness to engage in diverse tasks across projects and operations.
- Knowledge of various development tools and languages is a plus.
We’re looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to build the platform underpinning our brilliant Virgin products and services.
During this fixed-term contract, you’ll work closely with our development teams to ensure a secure, stable, and fast platform for our wonderful members. You will be empowered to take ownership, from technical design and analysis, to running systems in production.

- Operate and automate the Virgin Red AWS Cloud platform, developing new and secure features and administering existing infrastructure.
- Advise and support development teams as they build Virgin products and services in the Cloud.
- Provide solutions to reduce development effort, building shared modules, pipelines and infrastructure.
- Be proactive in identifying, applying and adopting the best techniques and technologies.
- Strive for high-quality technical design across our systems.
What you’ll need
- Extensive experience of AWS technologies CloudFront, API Gateway, Fargate, Lambda, S3 and IAM, as well as AWS automation using Python and Boto3.
- The ability to independently develop complete solutions within a pre-defined framework.
- Extensive experience of infrastructure as code, using terraform.
- Experience of working in a multi-account AWS organisation and understanding of cross-account permissions.
- An understanding of HTTP and RESTful APIs.
- An understanding of source control and deployment pipelines.
- A strong understanding of security best practices.
- The ability to effectively communicate and work with other internal and external teams.
- The drive to take on a wide variety of tasks, in both projects and operations.
- Experience working with Auth0 or other OIDC compliant authentication providers, Javascript or Java, Docker, Drone CI, GoAnywhere MFT, Datadog, Snowflake, BitRise, Tableau or Contentful, is desirable.
