Role Summary

Role Requirements

  • A love for food and a passion for teaching and hosting.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Confidence in cooking and interacting with large groups.
  • Level 3 Food Hygiene Training or equivalent.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings.

WHY WE NEED YOU

You’re here to lead best-in-class cookery classes and experiences.  You’ll be responsible for hosting, teaching and inspiring all our guests, across all our lessons.  Your key duties will be to prepare for, set up and lead each class, followed by clearing down.  Your love of food and passion for people will ensure every guest has an excellent experience with us.  Your drive and hunger will ensure shifts are run professionally and efficiently.

WHAT DOES A TEACHING CHEF DO

As Teaching Chef and to achieve the above, you have five key pillars of your role: 

Excellent Teaching 

Excellent classes and experiences are require excellent teaching:

Excellent Experiences

Our classes are more than just lessons.  They are experiences that inspire, excite, and create memories:  

  • Welcoming & Hosting.   You are the host of the whole experience!
  • Stick to the lesson plan.  
  • You are the focal point of any experience - the star of the show, and the glue that holds things together.  There’ll be a positive, dynamic energy about your presence.  

Operational Excellence 

You are responsible for your shifts being run in an optimal manner.  They must be efficient, effective and professional:

  • Efficient use of resources.   Ensuring food waste is kept to a minimum.  
  • Effective use of your time, completing jobs for the school that go beyond your classes.  
  • Supporting Chef Leadership Team with the operating and evolution of the school, where required. 

Food Safety, Hygiene & Health and Safety

You are responsible and accountable for our exceptionally high regard for food safety, HACCP, H&S, and hygiene. 

  • Food safety.  Having taken Level 3 Food Hygiene Training, you must adhere to what you’ve learned at all times. 
  • HACCP & Health and safety.  You will follow all HACCP guidelines, and healthy and safety requirements.     
  • Hygiene and presentation.  You’ll have a high level of respect and care for the businesses, and your own hygiene and presentation.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR 

We’re looking for someone who’s obsessed with food, passionate about people, and with a drive for hard-teamwork. 

You’ll be a very confident cook, and even more confident around people.  You’ll be a fantastic communicator, and presenter.  

You’ll have experience in cooking and/or communicating to large groups.  We’re looking for someone who shares our love of teaching and experiences, and wants to thrive in our dynamic, vibrant school.

  • The busiest time of our school is weekends and evenings - the role requires that you work weekend and evening shifts. 
  • Working week: 48 hours per week
